wheelchair-friendly premises

In a place like Yangon and looking for a wheelchair friendly hotel in a budget is not easy. I knew someone in Burma so I made sure they call the hotel and get me confirmation about their hotel being wheelchair-friendly. it was really nice of the manager to email me assuring me that they would take care of me ....they gave me the room on the first floor, there was a little hassle as it was a single room and a very small room I'm sure they would have upgraded me but since it was first day of the year the hotel was full. the second thing was that as you get out of the room there are steps downstairs so I had the little challenge to reverse my wheelchair in that small area but the staff was very very helpful on just making one call they would come immediately to help me get out and in the room. the breakfast is on the 7th Floor which again is accessible for wheelchair even though their breakfast is not very lavish but good breakfast for a budget hotel. they would have one soup either rice or noodle scrambled eggs, toast, some fresh fruit and juice. The parking was just outside the reception area and on the same level so that was the best part about. it there is a small Supermarket just outside of the hotel and even Chinatown is not very far but I was not so sure about going on my wheelchair on my own so I took a grab taxi which is quiet reasonable.

Good and Bad - Kinda Mixed.

The location is good for business meeting as well as for roaming around. The interesting places are nearby. Convenient store is downstairs. Staffs are friendly and efficient. But the air conditioner was noisy and the safe was unusable. Uncomfortable was at the time of breakfast, guests with PJs were there too, making me put the house rules into question.

Bahosi is a 2-3-star hotel in a very quiet residential area. The location is convenient if you are traveling to the Thai embassy (5 minutes taxi), the jewelry market and not a bad trip to Shwedagon (2,500 kyat taxi). The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Bed and pillows hard, as are the chairs in the room, so comfort could be improved. Bathroom very small, but shower good. Restaurant is forgettable, although the is a shopping mall within 5 minutes walk. Not much else food-wise for the non-Burmese in the area. Overall, I'd stay again. Good value. Fine for the price.

Hope there is never a fire

Great staff however it is really a 2 star hotel. We had a some type of pump banging away all night. But you cant complain at the price. However when getting home at night I noticed the fire door was closed by a bolt with a padlock on it. You would not get out of here if there was a fire. The shower area was quite dirty and needed to be cleaned.
