A summer evening in Venice

The hotel is beautiful, the restaurant is furnished with taste and attention to detail: the typical style of Venice is highlighted by the contemporary design. The dinner was exquisite, I would have ordered everything all over again!! The cocktails are exactly what you would want to drink on a summer evening and Giacomo and all the guys were nice and very kind.

Disappointing Stay — Premium Canal View Room Without Adequate Air Conditioning

We were extremely disappointed with our stay. We specifically chose this hotel because it advertised air conditioning, knowing it would be hot during our visit. We also paid a premium for a balcony room overlooking the canal. Unfortunately, we could not comfortably enjoy either the room or the view we paid for.
When we arrived for our three-night stay, the heavy drapes over the windows and balcony were completely closed, the bathroom was closed off by doors on either side, and a large fan was running in the room. It was immediately obvious that the room was very warm. We called the front desk about the air conditioning and were told to give it some time and call back if the room didn't cool down.
We had a food tour scheduled that afternoon, so we left expecting to return to a cooler room. When we came back, it was just as warm. The front desk said they would send a "mechanic," but the person who arrived appeared to be a bellman who brought ice and water to add to the fan. That was apparently the solution.
After another call to the front desk, we were told there was nothing else they could do until the following day. They offered to move us to a smaller room for the night so that we could at least try to sleep. We accepted, although this was obviously not the room we had paid for.
The next morning, we were assured the problem would be fixed. We went out for the day and returned to find that nothing had improved. At that point, we were told it could not be fixed and were offered yet another room next door. Unfortunately, that room wasn't much better.
Over the course of our stay, we were moved to a total of three rooms and spent a significant amount of time speaking with the front desk and management. The lowest temperature we were able to achieve was about 26°C (79°F), and even that required keeping the heavy drapes completely closed and closing off the bathroom. In other words, to make the room even somewhat tolerable, we had to completely block the balcony and canal view that we had specifically paid extra to enjoy.
What was especially disappointing was the hotel's response. Other than apologies and moving us from room to room, we were offered no compensation, additional amenities, or meaningful attempt to make up for the inconvenience. We ultimately contacted American Express, through whom we booked the room, and they were able to obtain compensation for our first night.
A hotel should not charge a premium for a balcony canal-view room if the room cannot be kept at a reasonable temperature while guests actually enjoy the balcony and view. Had we known that keeping the room somewhat cool required closing the drapes and shutting ourselves off from the very feature we paid extra for, we would have booked elsewhere.
For the price we paid and the amount of our vacation spent dealing with this issue, this was a very disappointing experience.

580€ per Night and such disappointment

We stayed at Il Palazzo Experimental and paid approximately €580 per night, including breakfast. The hotel benefits from a great location, beautiful design, and a reception team that was consistently friendly, professional, and helpful.
Unfortunately, several aspects of the stay did not match the price level. Despite booking a Superior room, the room was surprisingly small. The bathroom is clearly showing its age, with visible signs of humidity and maintenance issues. The air conditioning was also not functioning properly, leaving the room feeling stuffy and uncomfortable, especially during the current summer temperatures.
The biggest disappointment was breakfast. There were often more waiters than guests, yet service was remarkably slow. It frequently took a long time before anyone came to take an order, tables were not cleared promptly, and the overall organization seemed poor. One waiter in particular, Stefano, gave the impression that even simple requests were an inconvenience.
What is especially disappointing is that guests come here to enjoy their holiday. At a hotel charging around €580 per night, the service should make guests feel welcome, relaxed, and cared for. Instead, the atmosphere at breakfast often felt inattentive and unmotivated, which takes away from the overall holiday experience.
Another issue was the children’s high chair, which costs €20 but was in very poor condition. The leather covering was damaged, and the chair felt old and unstable. At this price level, basic equipment should be maintained or replaced.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. We are pleased to hear that you appreciated our great location, beautiful design, and the friendly, professional assistance of our reception team.
At Il Palazzo Experimental, we pride ourselves on delivering a welcoming and high-quality experience, which is why we take all guest feedback seriously. However, we would like to clarify a few points to provide a complete picture of your stay.
We always strive to go above and beyond for our guests. During your visit, our team was delighted to extend our hospitality by offering complimentary breakfast to your sister as a gesture of goodwill, a detail we were glad to provide to ensure your family felt accommodated throughout your long daily gatherings at our restaurant.
Regarding your comments on our facilities, our maintenance team immediately verified the air conditioning system, which is fully operational and centrally regulated to ensure comfort even during the intense summer heatwave. As for our children's equipment, while we ensure all items like high chairs are completely safe, certified, and functional for our youngest guests, we have already taken your note on board to refresh any cosmetically worn items.
We genuinely regret if there was any misunderstanding regarding the breakfast service. Our team, including Stefano, works passionately under high temperatures to maintain our standards, and we always aim to balance attentiveness with respecting our guests' privacy, especially during extended family meals.
We are glad that, overall, you were able to fully enjoy our food, drinks, and hospitality every day of your stay. We believe that true hospitality is a two-way street built on mutual respect, and we are confident that the value, care, and extra courtesies provided during your stay reflected our dedication to our guests.
We wish you and your family all the best in your future travels.
Warm regards,
Christian Zingarelli, Hotel Manager

Romantic

The hotel is beautifully located on one of the many canals. Only a few steps to the nearest Vaporetto station, San Basilio.
But one can also explore Venice very well on foot from the Dorsoduro district.
The rooms are well-equipped; if, like us, you have a magnificent view of the canal and the life on it, it is incredibly romantic.
The garden, which you enter through a large wrought-iron gate, adds extra romance and a pleasant feeling during breakfast.
Hearty breakfast not in buffet form.
Reception is very good and helpful with their information.
The service in the breakfast area could be significantly better. A uniform dress code would also be appropriate for the level of the establishment. Unfortunately, requests were forgotten again the second time, and it took ten minutes for a cappuccino to reach the table after another inquiry.

Disappointing

One thing is certain: the interior architecture of this authentic Palazzo is superb. The smallest details, materials and colors have been carefully chosen and are worth the visit. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. The location, a little away from the crowd, is ideal.
Where it gets tougher is in the services that are not up to the place. We went there for our anniversaries but in the middle of the launch of the Biennale and we were clearly not a priority. Every day, the hotel lobby was full of events, we had to justify ourselves to be able to enter the building and access our room. We were not able to have a drink in the bar or in the garden. We had no attention for our birthdays, not even a card in the room. The front of our room was, throughout our stay, used as stock for bath and bed linen. We almost never had a “hello” at the reception at our various passages. Finally, breakfast takes an endless time to be served, you have to repeat yourself, insist, creating a huge tension among all customers especially when you have a planned visit or a plane to take.
At the check-out, we reported it. We were told that the problem was known but we had no excuse or commercial gesture as if all this was normal when, in terms of prices, it is not.
In short a superb place but which must seriously question itself to live up to the claimed standing and prices.

Cher,
Bien cordialement,
