The name Singkawang come from Hakka language and means "Mountain Mouth Seas". A place surrounded by Sea and Mountains, it has one of the biggest Chinese community in Indonesia. Chinese New Year (Cap Me Goh) here attract tourists from all over the world. Other two nicknames of this city are "Amoy city" (because of the pretty young Chinese girls) and "City of a thousand temples".
