In Leipzig with friends at Easter 2026

Excellent location, apartment in historic building, comfortable and well-kept rooms, quiet area and close to the center, within walking distance.
Breakfast assorted and plentiful.
Staff helpful and kind.
Leipzig interesting and lively city, really a pleasant find.

Thumbs down, not recommended

We had booked an apartment and indicated the number and age of guests. When we arrived, we were assigned another apartment. There were fewer beds, all twin rooms. This was especially bad as we had 2 small children (4 and 1 year old) with us, who of course should sleep with the parents. There were 2 mattresses put on the floor by the hotel that operates the property. In addition, there was only one bath instead of two as advertised. Not all the beds were made. Nothing was cleaned, it smelled of smoke, a water damage is in the toilet, in the kitchen there was still food from previous tenants, etc.. The lock of the apartment had been broken for some time and a steep staircase went down in front of the door. This is of course catastrophic with a 1 year old child, as he can simply open the door. Underneath the apartment is a pub that plays loud music until late at night (about 3am). The basses are loudly audible in the apartment. The house rules are not enforced. In the apartment above was a youth football team who heard loud music, threw up the stairs and threw firecrackers out the window. We had to call the police as no one was available from the property. After our complaints we were promised 200€ as compensation. Emails were not answered, promises were made on the phone.

The property is pretty close to the city center by the opera house where you can find lots of shops and restaurants. I like its location because it’s tucked away enough that it’s quiet. The building on the outside is lovely with a courtyard to hang out in. The inside is up to date and clean. I would describe this as a more laid back version of a hotel, nothing like the chains. But it is charming. It is close to tram lines and the train (I did not take the train). It is a 20 minute drive to the airport by car/taxi. The staff I interacted with were friendly.

Broken kitchen, smelly toilet, no smoke detectors, 4. Floor without elevator without notice when booking

Either you have to be lucky or there was a change of ownership - our room was underground! In the kitchen freezer and oven were completely missing and the dishwasher was broken. The toilet smelled like my grandma's diaper, especially at night in rain the smell from the drains became unbearable. When booking there was no indication that our apartment was on the 4th floor. Floor without elevator. We were good on foot now, but not everyone can do that. But the worst thing was actually that there was not a single smoke detector in the entire apartment - in the event of a fire, all guests would have been cheerfully burned. Absolutely not a recommendation, it was nice times there, but now feels more like they are squeezing out as much money as possible without investing a dime!

Unreasonable

Friendly staff, good location, nice courtyard
BUT
An unreasonable apartment (S4 in the damp basement) with sticky, dirty floor (dark brown socks and dark children's hands after a short stay), table and kitchenette not wiped (still edges of glasses of the previous inhabitants), black mold in and around the shower, overall smell of cold smoke, wet dog and mold.
Upon our complaint we were offered a new cleaning, but nothing of that was felt in the afternoon.
Also the breakfast rooms, cutlery, dishes and glasses are dirty. Every other bowl or knife we have had to put aside. The tables were wiped very sporadically, sometimes first the chairs, then the tables and back again. The high chair was cleaned by us after the meal, the next day it looked exactly the same, some spaghetti were still stuck to it.
In the evening at the restaurant we got our order very late, without cutlery, the staff was then just gone. We were then able to pay an hour and a half later.
Generally I can not recommend the "hotel" and the gastronomy.
