The Calgary International Airport (YYC) serves Alberta’s largest city, and is a gateway airport for anyone looking to explore Canada’s natural wonders, such as Banff National Park. It is conveniently located some 20km from Calgary’s central business district.

 

This is a comprehensive facility that flies to over 60 destinations in Canada, the United States, Central America, Europe, and the Caribbean.

 

WestJet or Air Canada will handle most domestic routes, though both carriers provide a host of international flights also. Other airlines operating flights abroad are British Airways, KLM, Sunwing, American Airlines, United, and Delta.

Canada is replete with beauty, and if you have spent your time thoroughly investigating Alberta and are looking to see other parts of this great country, you can do so easily from Calgary’s airport. A quick hop of about an hour and a half can take you to the beautiful city of Vancouver (YVR), or head east instead to the French-speaking province of Quebec, where in just over four hours you can ski, stock up on maple syrup, and gorge yourself on the rich and wonderful cuisine offered in Montreal (YUL).

 

In fact, on a short-haul flight of four to six hours you can reach international destinations like the glorious coastal hotspot of Mexico’s Cancun (CUN), or the sandy bays and blue waters of Montego Bay (MBJ), a perfect getaway if you’re finding the northern winter a little hard to bear.

 

However, if you’re looking to explore another continent, Europe beckons: there are flights from Calgary out to the pretty city of Amsterdam (AMS) in the Netherlands, lovely at any time of year. Or fly instead to the historic city of London (LHR), where you can tour the Tower of London, stand beneath Big Ben, and shop down the mighty Oxford Street.
