Flights from Takaka

New Zealand, a paradise of green rolling landscapes and watery views, makes a fun destination to visit for those who want to enjoy tropical surroundings. Takaka, a town in the upper part of the South Island, is a fine place to visit here. It can be reached through Takaka Airport, a port of entry located between -40.8133011 (latitude) and 172.7749939 (longitude). It is served by a few airlines, which take passengers between a number of other destinations.

Established at an elevation of 97 ft above mean sea level, Takaka Airport has two runways respectively measuring 1,982 ft and 2,730 ft. These allow various airlines to fetch and drop off travellers going to and coming from different parts of the country. Those on their way to the surrounding area, however, can check out various natural wonders such as Te Waikoropupu Springs and Rawhiti Cave, two of the several breathtaking attractions in the area.

Where to go

A diverse region, Taupo and the Central Region, is a place to be for hikers and ecotourism enthusiasts. One will find here a volcanic zone, as well as the largest lake in New Zealand, and three volcanoes in Tongariro National Park. Outdoor activities abound here, from jetboating, skydiving, and skiing in different times of the year. Fly-fishing is also available for enthusiasts, allowing for a well-rounded vacation. When going around here, one can turn to the hot springs, mud pools, fumaroles, and craters. Those climbing up the elevation here can turn to Mt Ruapehu, which rises up to 2,797 metres. It is not just the highest mountain in the North Island, but also one of the world's most active volcanoes. It erupts from time to time, as well as Mt Ngauruhoe and Mt Tongariro, the two other volcanoes in the area.

Kaikoura, southeast from Blenheim, is a pretty peninsula town with the view of the snow-laden Seaward Kaikoura Range. Those going here will be in for a treat due to the easily spotted wildlife, from whales and dolphins, New Zealand fur seals and penguins, and many more creatures. Those going here can check out landmarks such as Fyffe House, the oldest surviving building in the region. Inside here are exhibits on the lives of colonial settlers and interpretative displays with historic objects. There is also the Maori Leap Cove to find here, a sea-formed limestone cave, from where one can start a trip around the countryside.

Tonga, two hours away from Auckland, makes a fun, if remote, destination in the South Pacific. Some parts of it are modern, which can seem discordant when visiting the countryside, where plantations flourish. When visiting here, one can check out the Ha'amonga 'a Mao Trilithon, a mysterious ancient structure likened to the Stonehenge.

Tourists can also visit the Tongan National Centre, which contains historical artefacts and cultural items. Demonstrations of tapa making, weaving, and basketry, as well as other crafts can also be attended here.

The Mapu'a 'a Vaca Blowholes is also a major attraction here, where one can watch hundreds of blowholes spurting water at once.

Japan, more than 11 hours away from New Zealand, is one of the best places to be in East Asia. Those going here can consider visiting Kansai, a city of great historical and cultural interest. One of the places to visit here is Kiyomizu-dera, a popular temple in Kyoto, one of the main cities of Kansai. The main hall has a huge veranda supported by pillars as it juts over the hillside. Below this hall is the waterfall Otowa-no-taki, sacred waters believed to serve as a health tonic.

From here, tourists can turn to Horyu-ji, the oldest temple in Japan and the centre of Buddhism in the country. Its Kondo holds many treasures, from the triad of Buddha Sakyamuni to the clay images depicting scenes from the life of Buddha.
