Ancona Falconara Airport is situated in the Falconara Marittima commune, 12 kilometres west of the city of Ancona, in the Marche region of central Italy. Only three kilometres away from the airport is the long sandy Falconara Beach. Immediately outside the airport vicinity, State Route 76 connects the airport to the motorway and the main roads that lead to Ancona city proper.
From central Ancona, you can return to the airport by following Via Flaminia west. Turn left onto Via Conca, then right onto Strada Statale Adriatica, heading for Falconara Marittima. On the SS76, take the first junction left to reach the airport.
Driving around Ancona Falconara Airport
Serving the city of Ancona is the A14 motorway, with the exits "Ancona Nord" (An. North) and "Ancona Sud" (An. South). Parking spots are abundant in the city, although parking rates get more expensive the closer they are located to the city centre. There is limited information regarding driving within the city. Generally within the Marche region, on the other hand, is an excellent road network that runs from north to south, featuring the SS16 Adriatic Coastal road and the A14 motorway. The SS16 is parallel to the autostrada and offers toll-free, scenic drives. When driving a rental car within the region and in Italy, make sure that you know how to operate petrol machines, as most petrol stations in the country not manned, especially outside operating hours.
Getting to your destination
Fermo is a nice and attractive town along the Adriatic coastline. It is situated atop the summit of a hill, providing views of the Tenna River and the countryside. Fermo has a rich ancient heritage and boasts of beautiful architecture. Attractions include the 13th century cathedral Duomo di Fermo, the Piazza del Popolo, and the Lido di Fermo or "beach of Fermo".
The drive to Fermo should take about an hour from Ancona Falconara Airport via A14/E55.
Fano is a town and beach resort situated where the Via Flaminia reaches the Adiratic Sea. Its main attractions include the Museo Civico (Archeological Museum and Art Gallery), the 12th cenutry Cathedral, Rocca Malatestiana (Malatesta Castle), and the Roman gate called Arco d'Augusto.
From the airport, Fano can be reached via Strada Statale Adriatica/SS16 and A14/E55.
Macerata is a city in central Italy. It has many striking palazzi, including the Palazzo dei diamanti. Other attractions are the museum Palazzo Buonaccorsi, the Carriages Museum, a modern art gallery in the Palazzo Ricci, and a Neoclassical style cathedral with a 15th-century Gothic bell tower.
