Las Vegas Mccarran Airport

The Las Vegas MacCarran International Airport (LAS) is the only major commercial airport for the glittering city of Las Vegas. Located an easy 5km distance from the centre of town, if you are one of the 45 million people that transit through this facility, you’ll find it a breeze to get from the terminals to Sin City’s famous Strip. Having served this city since the 1940s, McCarran International has developed into a modern airport, with comprehensive amenities, and flights to destinations all over the USA, as well as in parts of Europe, Mexico and Canada.

The Las Vegas McCarran International Airport has lots of facilities that you can access as you pass through the airport, such as slot machines, a kids play area, walking routes, an aviation museum, and charging stations. There are ATMs, a bank that offers customers full service, foreign exchange counters, plus lounges and free WiFi. For shopping, you can browse the technology shops, cosmetics branches, duty-free outlets, gourmet food counters, and jewellery boutiques. For dining, enjoy eating at popular chains like Burger King or Cinnabon, or sit down to eat at one of the many restaurants or cafes in the airport. You can also relax with a drink or just grab something to go before you fly.

From Australia, you’ll find the major carriers flying to Las Vegas tend to be Qantas, American Airlines, Virgin Australia, British Airways, United, Korean Air, Air Canada, and Hawaiian Airlines. If you are travelling on connecting flights through the United States, you can also fly with Southwest, JetBlue, and Alaska Air.

Travel Information

· There is a pretty large car hire centre at the airport, but it is located off-site. There are complimentary rental car shuttles that you can hop on to take you to the centre. Companies like Avis, Enterprise, Thrifty, Budget and Hertz operate out of this centre. Cut down on a little of your waiting time post-flight by reserving your car ahead of time with Skyscanner's search tool. Drive onto Swenson Street, then turn left on E Tropicana Avenue, and then a right on S Las Vegas Boulevard, and you will be on the Strip.

· Take the public bus service run by the RTC for 3USD ($4.50), or hop on a shuttle run by local companies that can take you door to door for around 8USD ($11). If paying per-person isn’t a good option for you because you’re with a group, then airport transfers booked online are an excellent alternative.

· Despite the quick journey, traffic along the Strip can sometimes be heavy, which will drive up the price of your journey. However, for the most part taxis are pretty reasonable, with an average fare coming to 20-25USD ($28-35).
