 Tribhuvan International Airport

Tribhuvan International Airport, also known as Kathmandu Airport, is situated just under 6km east of the capital city of Kathmandu, in the heart of the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal. The airport is also near to the cities of Patan and Bhaktapur.  This international airport can be found on Ring Road, and is the largest airport in Nepal.

Tribhuvan International Airport has a number of handy facilities for travellers to make use of before or after their flight into Kathmandu. These include bathrooms, a bank counter, currency exchange counters, post office service, souvenir shop, duty-free store, Nepal Tourism Board information counter, medical services, a telephone booth, a restaurant, and free Wi-Fi access. In addition, the airport has lifts, an escalator, bathrooms and other facilities which are accessible for disabled persons.

Travel Information

· Driving: If you would like to hire a car for your stay in Kathmandu, you will find car rental desks in the arrivals hall when you get to the terminal. It is an approximately 15-minute drive between the airport and the city centre.

· Buses: Regular buses operate between the terminal and Kathmandu, with a journey time of around 20 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic. In addition, many of the larger hotels in and around Kathmandu provide pre-arranged shuttle bus services for guests.

· Taxi: If you prefer to travel by taxi, you will find that there are multiple cabs running between the airport and the city. If flying into Kathmandu Airport, you should arrange a pre-paid taxi service before you leave the terminal. Outside the Arrivals area, on the right, you will find a booking counter with taxi rates displayed on the board.

Buses hide 

The airport is linked to the city by bus and the bus stop is conveniently located outside the terminal building. It is much cheaper than taking a taxi, although the journey into the city will take slightly longer. Many of the bigger hotels charter their own buses to make trips to and from the airport for the convenience of their guests, so do check if your hotel has this service.

Taxi hide 

There is a taxi service counter at the arrivals area where you can book taxis and pay for them in advance. To avoid confusion, charges for these taxi services are flashed visibly on a board for your reference. To get to this service, turn left after walking out of the arrivals gate. A taxi ride to the city is estimated at ten to fifteen minutes.
