Paid for 2 nights ended up staying only for 1!

We recently booked to stay at The Comus Inn for Christmas and Boxing Day night but unfortunately will not be returning again in its current state.
Upon check in we were allocated a room on the second floor of the building which was up some steep metal stairs that were slippy given the weather at the time so not a great start when carrying bags up.
From the start we were not impressed with the room. It was very small with hardly any room between the bottom of the bed and the wall so not suitable for those with mobility issues and just generally moving around the room. There were also a number of visible scuffs and stains on the walls.
As we were in a rush to get back to family for Christmas Day we thought we would leave it and speak to management when we returned later that evening or the following morning.
Unfortunately when we came back the pub was closed assuming as it was Christmas Day but there was no one on site to raise our concerns to. Also we were not given any kind of emergency contact details when checking in so I dread to think what would have happened had there been an emergency (broken keycard, power cut etc).
When we returned to the room on the first evening we gave it a thorough inspection and again were not impressed with it at all. The bathroom rug / towel that had been left out on the floor had a bleach stain on it and the shower and shower heads were very dirty along with a previous guests shower gels left in there. Due no ventilation or extractor fan in the bathroom there was also black mould in the bathroom.
Also when checking the cupboard under the sink we were extremely surprised to find an old packet of contact lenses in there. Clearly something else missed by the 'cleaners'.
The bedding to be fair looked clean but the duvet was too small for the duvet cover and the pillows far too soft which when combined with the external noise from the road that runs next to the building led to an unrelaxed and broken sleep.
We left early on Boxing Day to be with family and therefore could not speak to anyone about our concerns as the premises were closed again.
On returning the second evening we discovered that a family with a very loud child had been put in the room next to us along with their equally loud parents. Although not the hotels fault the child continued to cry and moan and we could hear everything through the paper thin walls. After leaving it for 30 minutes to see if things would calm down it was clear we were heading for another poor nights sleep and therefore decided to leave the room and return to my families home to spend a night sleeping on the floor. Not great when you have spent £93 to spend two nights away!
We left early the next morning and 'checked out' which consisted of posting the key card back through a letterbox. As the premises were again shut we could not voice our complaint / concerns to the owners or look to get some kind of refund for such a poor stay and experience and the fact we only spent one night on site having paid for two.
Whilst taking bags to our car we also noticed that it appeared rain water was starting to get into the room under the door soaking the carpet.
This stay was extremely disappointing as the location is great for when visiting family but we will clearly be looking for alternative accommodation on our next visit to them.
