Great stay

I loved my stay at Leith , dropped my case early and appreciated the help down with it. Meant i could explore. I was visting for an ultra event. Very clean and tidy . I have no care for the age or decor. The bed was comfy and for a solo traveller was all i needed

Dirty bathroom

Very disappointed with my stay at Leith House. The bathroom was filthy, with a shower screen strip that was extremely dirty and clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly. The toilet continued running for around 20 minutes after flushing, which was frustrating and concerning. The tiles and floor were dirty, and overall the property felt very shabby and poorly maintained.
Cannot check in till 3pm and it was stressed to me by an unfriendly reception I had to be out by 10am
The only positive was that the bed appeared clean. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not stay here again.

Easy to get into town, friendly and secure.

Location is great about 3 minutes to bus stop into the city, which is a short ride.
Plenty of little supermarkets and restaurants nearby.
It is very secure.
The lady was very friendly and helped us get our bags upstairs. The bed was clean and comfortable( it looked lumpy but was comfortable enough for a good sleep) Nice new kettle and tea and coffee making ( no fridge) but that was ok. Our bed was made and tea and coffee replenished each day
The room was shabby, stains and drips on the walls and radiator, shower head broken squirting all over the bathroom till we turned it around, toilet seat wobbly, mould on the shower screen, chairs wobbly. A few repairs and some paint and a bit of bleach here and there and it would earn an extra star from me.

Avoid

Check-in took ages for someone to come to the door, no acknowledgment or apologies for wait. Check-in is was hostile and not very welcoming. Upon entering the room, it was dark, drab and frankly quite depressing. Everything was so dated. Some plug sockets work, some don’t. Luck of the draw I guess. I asked the person working if we could have a fan as the room was literally a hot box. He said they don’t have fans. How can an establishment charging nearly £100 a night not have basic fans for guests during a heatwave. He then appeared with a small fan and said ‘it’s from my room’, was this to make me feel guilty? I’m not too sure. Rooms are noisy and you can hear everything going on from other bedrooms to the front door being open and smashed shut frequently. The overall experience was extremely disappointing. Being shrugged and/or just not responded to isn’t customer service.
Bathroom was awful. Water either scolding hot or freezing. Everything was rusty or chipped away at. Shower was a broken ‘rainfall’ one so you had no choice but to get your hair wet.
Yes it’s a 20 minute walk from the centre and easy to commute from but I’d definitely prefer to stay further out and be treated as a guest not an inconvenience. Charging premium prices for what felt like a cheap hostel.

It was an amazing stay. Bathroom was as expected. Very close to shops and restaurants.
