Set up for weddings but perfectly suitable for a short break in Cambridge. Easy access to Cambridge with good local amenities. Rooms were well kept with good en-suites. Enjoyed being able to run local footpaths through woods.

Avoid at all costs.
For £360 for 2 nights we expected a nice clean place to stay. We asked prior if we were able to check in earlier than the 4pm stated. Only to be told it would cost us an extra £30!!! We declined that wonderful offer. However, it did lead us to think that the cleanliness of the hotel is a priority. How wrong we're we!!! We checked in to the reception only to be given a key and told we were in the barn and a pointed finger in the direction behind her. Off we went insearch of our room. Across the gravelled driveway to a "barnlike" building. We entered the hallway to a very dated interior and an exceptionally dirty mirror. We opened the door to our room (4) which was located on the ground floor. It was extremely tired. The carpet is all ruched up, damp marks on the ceiling, big chunks of wood out of the headboard, the plinths under the kitchenette had come off and just dropped against the unit. The silicon king had used that much under the shower that it would have been cheaper to have bought a new shower. A tiny tablet of soap was supplied, nothing else. The usual complimentary tea/coffee etc was there. The kitchen surface was sticky and grubby. There was a fan in the room however it really did not help cool the room. My husband sat on the sofa and crashed straight to the floor. I had to help him up , he was that shocked. We sat on the bed taking in how dirty and dated the room was when out of the window, there was two people looking at us!!! The entrance to their room was less than 12" away from our open window . So no privacy whatsoever and no chance of leaving the window open during this heatwave. The roller blind only covers 2/3 'of the window so yet again no privacy.
When we asked during check in about breakfast we were told we had a choice of a pain at chocolat or a croissant supplied in the vending machine and coffee/tea etc from another vending machine. Charged between £2- £4 .
We truly felt ripped off. We could have gone to a Premiere inn , at least you know what you are getting for your money there. We chose Rectory Farm because it looked amazing on Booking.com however it was more fitting for a Stephen King movie.
We did express our disappointment to the reception but they really didn't want to know. As we had paid for the room prior,they did not want to give us a refund.
Carpark was £5 per night on top and £5 per person to use the pool. No staff , only between 4pm- 10pm. Truly disappointed by our experience at Rectory Farm.

Bad experience this time.
We have stayed at Rectory Farm four times over the last 25 years. We were looking forward to visiting Rectory Farm again, but unfortunately, we were disappointed. It used to be nice and clean with a good breakfast, but that is no longer the case. They have cut back on breakfast and cleaning, and the hotel is not being maintained.
The carpets are dirty, and there is no shampoo in the bathroom. It is very disappointing, unfortunately, given what we are used to.

The room was big and comfortable .
Unfortunately it was on the ground floor and everybody can look inside. The curtain was only from the top of the windows so to have privacy you had to be in the dark even with a nice sunny day.
They should have curtain half way to allow the light to enter the room and not let walking by people to look inside.

This place is a haven.. so close to Cambridge. The pool was too cold for me but my son had a blast and spent a very enjoyable hour watching him. Came away feeling like I had been on holiday. Make sure you visit the garden centre round the corner for breakfast it is awesome. Great for gifts too
