Disappointing - faded guest house, not a hotel
Beware - The Gregory is a guesthouse-style property, which has a slightly tatty air to it. The guest lounge is very pleasant, and if you would like to savour a Cuban cigar you’re in luck as they are available. Unfortunately we’d hoped for a bar and restaurant.
The on-site car park was an attraction for us, and we managed to squeeze into a space at the back. There is parking on the road, free of charge, so not as essential as we anticipated.
Apparently, we’d been upgraded. On entering into Room 18, or ‘Michelle’s Room’ as per the badge on the door, we felt disappointed. It is crying out for an upgrade - poorly decorated, a pokey shower… the flimsy bracket fell on me mid-wash after I’d adjusted the height of the shower head. As Warren Group pointed out to me, there are photos online, however they seem to be of other rooms, that £191 (inc the £24 for breakfast) must not cover.
No complementary bottles of water and just two teabags - more available on request if you arrive before 7pm when the staff leave until morning.
Breakfast was great for me as I like an egg and a more continental style option. Not so good for my husband who enjoys a full cooked breakfast.
The staff on reception were very friendly and professional - no complaints there.
Not a place we’d recommend.

Here is the response, can you imagine a business allowing such impertinence, well you don't have to because it happens.
We have tried offering resolution with you and explained our staff are available 24/7 simply pick up the phone, the welcome sheet in your room states details on how to contact staff. You had arrived late after staff had left if you had arrived to check in at check in time you’d have met the entire team on arrival.
An insect on your pillow is unfortunate but with 6 other pillows in the room I’m unsure how this caused you so much distress. In winter common house spiders. The staff checked shower when you mentioned at checkout and found no issues with the shower it ran efficiently and with warm water, iron and ironing boards are kept in the cupboard beside the reception for guests to use freely and sign on the door indicates this sorry you missed it.
Sorry the discount also wasn’t appreciated and your review reflects only negatives.

Nice hotel
We had a double room suite, both large, clean and comfortable.
Breakfast worked for us (as our kids don’t eat a lot), but was pretty basic offering for a 4 star.
Excellent location
