Outstanding

I had my team stay at Hotel Timor in Dili for work while I was working from outside the hotel. With a busy schedule, different working hours, and plenty of logistics to manage remotely, I really appreciated how easy the hotel team made everything.
A special thank you to Ms. Fatima, aka Bela, the Customer Service Manager. She was absolutely amazing — always available, always helpful, and somehow always finding a solution. She even arranged a complimentary van for my team to attend a birthday party, which was incredibly kind and very much appreciated.
Whether it was an early request, a late request, or one of those “small” things that suddenly become very important when you're working, Bela was always there to help. Having someone I could trust while managing things remotely made a huge difference.
The laundry service was also incredibly helpful, especially with different working hours and a busy schedule. The flexibility and support from the hotel team made things much easier for everyone.
And the arrival and departure — they made everything simple. Very simple. Even with my team handling more than 15 heavy bags! The hotel staff went above and beyond to make everything run smoothly.
I also received great feedback from my team about the food. The location is another big plus — right near the ocean. And if you enjoy running, this is probably one of the best spots in town. A great place to get your run in while enjoying the waterfront.
Overall, Hotel Timor delivered exactly what you want during a work trip: great service, flexibility, good food, a great location, and genuinely friendly people.
A huge thank you to Ms. Fatima (Bela) and the entire team for taking such good care of my team and making a busy work stay feel so much easier — even when I wasn't there in person.
I came to Timor for work, but I’ll definitely come back to Timor by choice. ❤️
Highly recommended!

A good choice in Dili

A good hotel centrally located in Dili.
Nice reception and restaurant area. We had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant, which was nice and reasonably priced.
Airport shuttle worked well. Just contact the hotel in advance.
Nice, large pool and pool area.

Room refurbishment required

Sometimes old is funky and stylish, sometimes old means it’s decrepit and needs some love. This hotel has colonial charm but the room we stayed is sorely in need of an urgent refurbishment.
The upside
Good breakfast
Spacious reception and dining area
Nice outdoor pool and bar
Good porters and door staff
Good location
The downside
Couldn’t eradicate mosquitoes in my room
Musty smell in room
A/C struggled to cool room
Noisy kitchen extraction fan noise starts at 6am in the morning
Shower recess mouldy with unstable floor
I would reconsider staying at the hotel again AFTER a significant upgrade. If not, I’ll give it a pass.

Old, too expensive, to avoid.

Very few reviews of this hotel, and all are very old.
You can find a certain old-fashioned charm when you enter this large hall with a colonial atmosphere, and then when you meet there for a drink.
Certainly the staff is friendly, helpful, and smiling.
Certainly the very central situation has advantages.
Certainly, the free and comfortable airport shuttle is an undeniable plus.
But in 2025, a number of points are no longer acceptable.
First of all, no soundproofing: when you have a room on the avenue, you have the concert of diesels, horns, police sirens live and continuously.
On the other side, it is a huge, very noisy ventilation tower.
If by chance there is a party in the neighborhood, it is the absolute horror, no chance to close an eye before 3 am if you are on the wrong side.
The wifi is old age, very slow and very random.
Cleanliness is doubtful: in the bathrooms, the corners are grime black, the silicone joints black mold.
Breakfast is of a very average quality.
All of this might be bearable if the prices were more reasonable, but $180 for a “junior suite” overlooking the avenue and its deafening “sound” is exorbitant. (And if you ask to change rooms because this suite is far too noisy, you can indeed be changed to a much smaller and cheaper room, but you will not be refunded the difference: it is inadmissible).
Thermal insulation is also non-existent in the absence of double
glazing, so that air conditioners are shy about trying to cool
the atmosphere.
In conclusion, my advice is to avoid this hotel.
I say this regrettably because the kindness of the staff makes you want to be less severe, but there are really too many negatives.

Nice looking hotel but lacking service

The Hotel looks very nice and appealing unfortunately looks can be deceiving as the service was not matching.
The breakfast spread was superb.
There is a gift shop with souvenirs and other items
Rooms were spacious and clean.
The doormen were nice and they allowed luggage to be stored in reception.
Free Airport shuttle was great.
If you walk a little easy to catch microlets. But traffic can be heavy. Dili Port very close.
The staff were main issue. I received no responses to queries on Booking.com prior to my arrival.
Reception staff generally okay but I found one asleep when i went to ask questions.
The waiting/dining staff were not so good. They didn't need to do much for breakfast as it was self-serve buffet but i had lunch and a couple of dinners including when i wasn't a hotel guest and service was poor. I had to chase them for menus. And then drink menus and desert. Many items they said were not available, or staff did not understand their own menus. I had one person hand me a desert i never ordered or asked. And some more interested in knowing if i was Indian than actually doing their job. There was adequate staff. Just they often sat around talking and doing no work.
The Wifi was basically non-existent in rooms.
