You need to have a car or scooter to get around, otherwise everything is lovely.

Good service, daily cleaning of room, fresh coffee at breakfast, bathroom amenities. But furniture are not in traditional style, mostly mismatched pieces.

Intolerable!

We were there for two nights over Chinese New Year. The village was beautiful so was the I-Shan property. Unfortunately the room was filled with intolerable odor and the bathroom was filthy. Though I prepared myself for staying at a B&B accommodation, I did not anticipate how intolerable it was.
We reserved the family room, which should “sleep 4 to 5”, but it was very small, just enough for a double bed and a small 2-seater sofa. There was no place for luggages. No closet or cupboards. Every bedding was old and odored. The smell was so strong and disturbing that I was not able to sleep. Eventually I had to fold my coat and cover the pillow. Even the sofa smelled bad. I wonder how long they have not replaced pillows and blankets and cleaned the room thoroughly.
Bathroom was just as bad. Towels were no longer white, turned grey in fact. Tiled floor was old and dirty. Dirty plastic slippers. I ended up not taking a shower while I was there.
There is a mezzanine floor in the room, but we were told because we registered as a couple only, ie two guests, we should not use it. It was dark and dusty, a narrow wooden staircase leads up to it. A bit spooky actually.
Breakfast was not eatable. We had coffee only for two days. All in all, will not recommend to anyone. It is a beautiful property, but on the outside only.

We spent 3 days in this hostel. This hostel and neighborhood are so beautiful and quite. Moreover, the village is not far away from a lot of spot to visit and the city center.
