Very nice experience

Very special hotel and located in the center of the old town of Solothurn. Ideal for visiting Solothurn. Welcoming very kind. Listening staff. Very clean. Very large room considering that the hotel is within period walls. Our room being located on the main street, it was quite noisy. The clock tower, moreover, about ten meters away....strike every 1/4 hour....but....the hotel provides the "bull case". Very good breakfast.

Not worth it

My wife and I were at the restaurant for lunch today.
I ordered a salad plate with melon and my wife had the veggie menu
Vegetables in béchamel sauce au gratin.
My salad was nicely presented, but the salad dressing was probably forgotten, so I had to order it afterwards. My wife's vegetarian meal, however, was abysmal. Hardly a trace of vegetables. It was actually just a simple potato gratin with maybe 100g of potatoes; the rest was sauce. A very small portion, which would not have been enough even for my 6-year-old grandson.
I really wondered what the cook's profession actually is??? We have been there to eat twice before, but this was certainly the last time, as the other two times were not worth recommending either.

Mold apartment

If you have no issues with a heavily run-down and poorly furnished apartment (from the 70s), with mold in the bathroom, with doors that do not close (including the bathroom door), and with a very arrogant and unaccommodating attitude from the manager when complaints arise, then I can warmly recommend this family apartment to you ;-).

Short Version: Yes, it was nice enough that I would stay there again. Long version: It's right in the middle of the alt section, so great location. The staff was very helpful, and accommodating. This is an old Swiss hotel, so it's dated, but has lots of charm, especially the common areas and the breakfast room.

This is an old hotel with lots of character in the centre of the village. Due to its location, it's super noisy in the summer if you have your windows open. You need to have the windows open because the summers are very hot here. There are rooms with a courtyard view, ask for one of those if the noise bothers you. Unfortunately, when we asked to switch rooms and the night clerk couldn't have been more rude. The clerk we dealt with earlier said that there were lots of rooms available. However, the night clerk didn't want to tend to our needs at all and it was only 7pm. The next morning at breakfast, we were met with the same horrible rude staff in the dining room. However, the staff bent over backwards to any locals that arrived at the restaurant. Overall, this is a basic, clean hotel in a convenient area of the village. The staff need to work on their people skills.
