Decent rooms and incredibly kind owner
We went to this hotel as an intermediate stop for one night while traveling to Italy. Even though it was very late we were warmly welcomed.
The hotel is definitely very dated but extremely well maintained. Our room was very clean and consisted out of two small beds pushed together against a wall which was not super comfortable. The private shower was clean and spatial. Toilet was shared amongst multiple people on our floor but looked clean.
The owner was in the process of clearing breakfast when we went downstairs, I guess we were later than usual guests, but immediately remade the breakfast buffet for us and made us coffee. Extremely kind.
We did find the room a bit expensive for what we got, which is kind of on us for traveling in July and finding something last minute.
Would definitely stay again here as an intermediate stop or to check out the beautiful surroundings.

Probably the most unpleasant hotel experience of my last 50 years and seriously expensive!
This really was probably my worst hotel experience of the last 50 years and it was seriously expensive! A friend and I arrived to find the Hotel deserted and a note in a dark reception stating our rooms were x and y. We were the only guests and soon found out why. The hotel is in need of serious refurbishment or maybe even demolition, as the attached images show. Not only that but the owner turned out to be exceptionally arrogant and unpleasant when we met him at breakfast - no hot food, rationed to one small cup of coffee, stale bread which had to be toasted to make it edible, and insisting we pay for the second night even though both booking.com and common sense would have allowed him to compromise, instead of which he became very angry and threatening (guests beware)!
He ran outside to photograph our car and claimed to be calling the police to have us hunted all over Switzerland - I think he may have done this before because the police never arrived. We paid for our stay and for peace and a quiet life paid another 150 ChF for the night we didn't stay
During our one night stay, there was no way of using a standard western European plug and we had to borrow adaptors from the hotel across the road which is where one has to go for food as Hotel Gotthard was simply deserted with no staff anywhere. I'm not sure it has any staff apart from the owner. One further hazard, in the dingy corridor to the bedrooms there are several low pebble dashed bits of ceiling which I bashed my head on even though I am only 1.8 meters tall - no warning or padding, just jagged pebble dash - took a while to stop my head bleeding!

Very good, simple and well located
It is a hotel for those, who come to Uri to enjoy nature. The owner is a very nice guy, who does his job and tries to keep you satisfied. We had a twin bed room with a huge bathroom. Parking is available, supermarket is 5 minutes walking distance, 7 minutes to the railway station, good breakfast. Nothing to complain about. We truly enjoyed our stay.

Very welcoming
The Hotel Gotthard is a small, traditional Swiss hotel. It appears rather dated (and brings back memories of hotels from the 1970s and 80s), but my room (Room 3) was clean, comfortable and appeared to have been repainted quite recently. The manager was very welcoming. Anyone looking for a de luxe international chain hotel will be disappointed, but I greatly enjoyed staying here and would gladly do do again. Good breakfast buffet. A Co-op supermarket is located just 5 minutes away. The hotel is also within a short walk of Göschenen railway station.

Very old hotel in a beautful village, but run down
The hotel is very old, the place is very run down with DIY repairs which had taken place quite badly. None of the furniture matched, very limited, floor boards creaked, curtains just fitted and the doors did not fit.
Great greeting at early hours of the morning, land lord could not do enough, nothing seemed to be a problem. Breakfast basic, but very fresh.
Do not look for luxury, but if you just want a stop over, just right.
