Best location overlooking Ascona

Absolutely great location: wonderful view of Locarno and Ascona, fresh air, beautiful park, plenty of free loungers, and a rich breakfast.
Perfect: Shuttle bus in the evening for the Jazz Festival. Friendly staff.
Beautiful, renovated rooms with air conditioning, good beds.

Disappointing, lacked amenities and service levels expected

This was billed as a very good Hotel but I felt very let down. It was expensive but the amenities and service levels were lacking. The aircon didn’t work properly and only after repeated complaints did I get a lifesaving fan in the intense heat. The WiFi was also poor, I had to keep going outside into the corridor to get to back.
No coffee machine or kettle, no list of prices for minibar or room service. The pool was lovely with a wonderful view but the promised jacuzzi was empty.
The staff were not too friendly either.
There is a shuttle but you have to ask and it stops at 4. Why? It’s a long way up the hill. If you don’t have a car, not a good idea.
Just not a place where the customer was front and centre..

The rooms were very clean and stylishly decorated. It reminded me of a luxury hotel from the 1980s. With one exception, the staff was very friendly and attentive. The breakfast was quite good and plentiful. I wouldn’t have dinner there again. It was good, but way too expensive—as if it were Michelin-starred cuisine. All in all, the atmosphere at dinner was far too stuffy for my liking.
Ascona and the surrounding area have many fantastic restaurants, and they’re all worth visiting. Overall, we found the hospitality to be excellent, and we’ll definitely stay at this hotel again on our next visit.

We stayed at the hotel in March 2026. The hotel is dated, but clean. The staff were nice. The hotel rooms were clean. But the heat was so high it was very uncomfortable to sleep. Pillows were so soft your head was on the bed despite the pillow. The hotel and staff and patrons looked right out of 1970’s Lawerence Welk show. From the way we were served, to the food

Good but can do better

At the reception we offer a glass of water or orange juice. Everything is tastefully decorated.
The Jacuzzi area is only 2 bubble bathtubs to fill yourself so big disappointment on my side. In the room there are not even bottles of water.
Considering the rates charged I expected something else.
Free parking available is a plus
