Nice stay with personalized service and comfort

During our stay in this luxury hostel in the hills around Kandy we were warmly received. The room was already ready and we were allowed to check in immediately. The staff is friendly, actively thinks about trips, transport and meals, and is easily accessible.
We slept in a deluxe twin room. The room was small but clean and practically furnished. The private bathroom was across the hall, which was a little less comfortable, but well arranged. Soundproofing seemed fine, although we were the only guests at the time.
A nice swimming pool, an attractive bar and restaurant, games, a piano and a terrace with a view. The coffee and meals are tasty and prepared with care. A packed lunch was also provided for our train trip to Ella – very attentive.
A nice extra was the tuk tuk tour of special places outside the busy center of Kandy, a perfect alternative to the temple crowds.
In short: a surprising and well-kept hostel, ideal for travelers who are looking for a little more comfort, but also like to meet fellow travelers. We definitely recommend this stay!

Terrible.

Bad property booked through booking.com we arrived for check in and one of the two rooms booked was without bathroom!
We were offered an outdoor bathroom shared with others. We asked the Reception staff why the reservation made was not respected they made us talk by phone with the owner who rudely said that that was the only availability!
Obviously we refused to check in and requested a refund which was refused.

A gem of a place

Banana Bunks is a real find. It is beautifully decorated and clean with a lovely terrace for breakfast which is excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful and can arrange tuk tuk drivers to take you into town. Our room was very spacious and comfortable with a lovely bathroom.
It was our first place to stay in Sri Lanka and gave us a good taste of what was to come.
The staff also arranged to pick up our train tickets to Ella and were attentive and kind.

Nice quick stay at Banana Bunks, perfect for exploring Kandy whilst outside of the hustle and bustle

Had a fab time staying at Banana Bunks for 2 nights whilst visiting Kandy.
The accommodation was clean and nicely presented. The pool area especially was a real treat and empty when we visited. Our room was a very small private twin room, with private bathroom (but accessed off the public corridor). It was fine for our short stay but very cosy.
Had good quick wifi and a lovely outdoor terrace which was private, under the leaves.
The accommodation itself was around a 10 minute walk outside of the city centre which was perfect for us as meant a nice quiet sleep and you could leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind. Coming back to the accommodation from the city was a very steep hill, so we always got TukTuks which were around 500 rupees per trip.
We had our train tickets (Kandy - Ella) delivered to the accommodation in advance, which made planning our onward travels super easy.
We didn’t eat in the accommodation at all, but they had a good selection of items, although we’re quite pricey compared to other places.

Fabulous!!

Everything was so spectacularly beautiful that I have no words to describe it as it was! Everything was wonderful, the staff was unsurpassable in their kindness and helpfulness, and the resort is paradisiacally beautiful - a true idyll! Our every wish was catered for and our stay was like a never-ending gift! I will book here again next time, without a doubt for me the best hotel, the best service and the best location - far away from the hustle and bustle of Kandy but still close! Thanks to Asela and his wonderful team! They picked King Coconut from the tree and gave me plenty to try. And when I asked what to do with Jackfruit, they made a delicious dinner!!! They are worth their weight in gold, these guys!
