Gem in Hills

The place is middle of the tea estate and got super view towards hills as well as valley.
Rooms are spacious and all have large glass panel to overlook. Large barthroom with seperate shower and WC wher two people can use at a time.
Food was delicious and we have done some local cooking with the Cheff Kumar.
Large infinity pool openntontea estate gives super looks.

Cute Hotel with an Exceptional Chef

The hotel itself is beautiful, with a lovely atmosphere and very comfortable rooms. A very special mention goes to Kumar, the chef, who was truly outstanding. He essentially took care of everything during our stay — incredibly attentive, kind, and extremely talented. Every day he prepared a wide variety of delicious food, always fresh and thoughtfully presented. His cooking and hospitality genuinely elevated our experience and made us feel very well looked after.
Unfortunately, our stay was affected on the last night due to a complete electricity outage. The power went off around 10:00 p.m. and was not restored until the following morning, after breakfast. As a result, we had no lighting, no television, and no air conditioning throughout the night. While the weather was mild, it was still uncomfortable and not what one expects from a hotel stay.
The situation continued into the morning, as there was very low water pressure, making it difficult to shower properly. These issues appeared to be related to hotel maintenance, which should be proactively managed to avoid guest inconvenience.
While we were offered two complimentary dinners, which we appreciated, this did not fully address the situation. What was most disappointing was the response from management. The manager ( Mr. Kumudu), was not present at the property, and when contacted by phone, there was no genuine concern or apology expressed. Instead, the response implied that since we had received a good room rate, the inconvenience was already compensated for and no further action or acknowledgment was necessary. This response came across as dismissive and unprofessional.
Overall, the hotel has great potential, and the space itself — along with Kumar’s exceptional service — is a real strength. However, improved maintenance and a more guest-focused, professional management approach are essential to ensure a consistently positive experience.

Hidden gem

We did a family trip with my son’s 5-year-old classmates and their families, and it was an excellent experience. The property is beautifully located, surrounded by mountains, and equipped with all the amenities you could ask for. There’s a large pool for the kids to enjoy and a smaller plunge pool as well.
We requested Sri Lankan food for the adults and some Western options for the kids, the kitchen staff did a fantastic job catering to both. During our stay, we also took a short and scenic train ride from Haputale to Igalgashinna, which was a lovely experience for everyone.

Beautiful place with kindly and very friendly staff. Very helpful. Call the hotel before then they can arrange a cheaper transport.

The property must've looked stunning when built, but years of neglect show noticeably. Staff is very friendly but I think they're not very expert in running an accommodation as a business, so it was a lot of hit and miss.
The owner must be obsessed with Versace, as everything has been marked with a fake Medusa logo, which more than classy looks tacky (but that's personal taste).
The property is very far from everything and only accessible through a narrow scary road, so once you're in you're unlikely to be wanting to leave again. WiFi is way too weak to even check Facebook and only fee rooms have Netflix.
Food is lovely but dinner are way overpriced.
Location is very nice and secluded. Katerina who is there for a few weeks more is amazing!
All in all, I think it is overpriced for what it is. Or the property should make that but if an effort to turn the place around.

Very good location
