Very good location and price
The location is perfect, with the Gran Via just a stone's throw away and numerous shops, supermarkets and restaurants nearby.
The main drawback is that it is an old building and the lock was difficult to open... and it also does not have an elevator; Personally, these are details that don't matter to me, but I understand that there are people who do.
The room was small but correct: very clean, comfortable and modern; no complaints. There was air conditioning and a mini-fridge (in summer it was appreciated).
The bathroom is also very clean.
It is an option that I will consider for other getaways to Madrid since its price seems appropriate to me.

CAREFUL!!!!!
There are two hostels in the same direction: Hostal Rías Bajas (1st floor) and Hostal Abami II (2nd floor), both managed by the same people.
We had booked a double room at Hostal Abami II and after our arrival we were assigned room 111 of Hostal Rías Bajas, without realizing that we were in a different hostel than the booked one. This proved to be minuscule and of a much lower quality than the images shown on the Booking.com website of Hostal Abami II. After complaining, we were moved to room 108, slightly more spacious but with an excessively small bathroom.
Realizing at night that we were staying at Hostal Rías Bajas, we consulted again at reception. We were told that “it was the same”, claiming that it is Booking.com that allocates the rooms and that those of the Abami II are even smaller. At that time, I proceeded to contact Booking.com customer service by phone to file a complaint.
The next morning, after requesting further explanations and after a long discussion, they only agreed to transfer us to Hostal Abami II when I requested the claim sheet. The new assigned room did correspond to the photographs on the web: more spacious, modern and with a suitable bathroom.
It seems that the establishment markets the rooms of the Abami II at a higher price for their modernity, and then rehouses the guests in the Rías Bajas, whose facilities are noticeably older, of lower quality and at lower prices

Mediocre
When we arrived at the hotel, we arrived early and asked for our bags to be stored, without asking for a reservation or taking our names or marking the bags. When checking in later, there was another receptionist who did not know that we were coming, nor did she know that the reservation had already been paid for, and when taking the suitcases she could not know if we were taking ours, there is a possibility of easy theft.
The stairs to the hostel are made of unkept wood, they slip, and they make noise when going up and down, a noise that can be heard from the rooms.
I don't know if the hostel below and this one have joined forces or something, but if you had a problem, you had to go downstairs to report it, there is no reception on the floor. The WiFi name and password were changed without informing, I had to contact reception via WhatsApp to get WiFi again, at least it's quick.
The room was offered with a refrigerator, tea/coffee maker and safe, we didn't have any of that.
The room smelled closed every day.
Broken wall.
Our room had no place to leave anything, it's no use having "plugs next to the bed" if the "table" is so small that it doesn't fit your cell phone and glasses. It has a corner with a table but you can't even sit down because the chair hits the table. You feel boxed in. The closet does not fit a standard medium-sized suitcase, we had to leave the medium-sized suitcase on the egg of the corner table, and I had to use the small suitcase as a side table. The television is one of the first flat screens and looks and hears poorly. The air conditioning is 20 years old and has a green LED that illuminates the room a lot. At least it works. The bed is made of springs and they dig into your back and ribs when you try to sleep. The mattress is on a piece of wood and 6 legs, which eliminates the possibility of putting suitcases underneath. There was a light bulb missing from the "little table" and they never put it in
The hostel is offered with "soundproof rooms". We could hear every word and every tap from the next and next rooms. The door leaves a fairly wide grille through which the light from the hallway passes through, which is always on.
The bathroom, without any shelf to leave anything, the shower door cannot fit a person of normal weight, not to mention even being able to shower comfortably due to the limited space. The toilet chain was sagging and always leaking water, adding another noise to the night. Broken coat rack. The dryer overheats and you have to wait a few minutes to use it again, if you have long hair you will spend 10 minutes fooling around. Bagless bathroom trash can.
Speaking of noises, there is an electrical hum all night and at some point during the day, we think it is the fan in the bathroom vent in the next room. If not... I can't explain the noise...
The service... We had to ask for toilet paper when we arrived because there was half a roll. There was one day when we left an empty water bottle that we were planning to refill to save money and he threw it at us, he also took the extra toilet paper that we asked for the day before. The cleaning service consists of making your bed, cleaning the bathroom a little and changing the towels, no broom, mop or glass. We found the toiletry bag with the makeup open, and although we haven't seen anything missing, it makes us think...
If they improved the noise, the small details, did not lie about the characteristics of the rooms and improved the bed, it could be a 3-star hostel and would have better ratings. For the price, I have not felt comfortable.
