So close to perfect!
I really want to give this place 5/5. Almost everything was without fault. We arrived at Sunday lunchtime and had one of the best meals I have ever had in Spain. We were made really welcome our hosts were charming and our room was lovely. A perfect location for making your way to Santander or Bilbao. So why not 5/5? The bathroom is dated and the water was only just warm. I can forgive that and I would happily go again.

Lovely staff and great restaurant!
The 9 of us stayed here en route to our holiday destination and loved it! The staff were extremely welcoming, especially the lady who greeted us when we arrived who also served us dinner and breakfast. The rooms were clean and very comfortable with ensuite bathrooms. We had a drink in the bar and then ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was absolutely delicious. The next morning we were served freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh coffee and a lovely range of cold food. This was such a wonderful start to our holiday and we would all love to visit again one day!

Exceptional value
My wife and I stopped over after getting off the ferry in Santander. It's about 1.5 hours from the port, so ideal for some of the ferries that dock late afternoon / early evening. Ours docked at 17:30. It took 45 mins for us to get off, so we arrived at Possda Calera around 19:45. We received a very warm welcome (you need to go into the bar area to let them know you've arrived) and were shown to a lovely rustic but very clean ensuite room. Please note that this is a remote little village, so don't expect English to be widely spoken. Have a go in Spanish and the owners will thank you for it and go out of their way to help you understand them! We had reserved a table in the restaurant, although as it turned out on that particular Sunday evening we didn't need to. We ordered a beer and wine in the bar with the locals before going into the restaurant. Through the use of pictures on a tablet, we chose our food. We asked for a bottle of red wine - no menu - but it was a local Rioja and superb. We also ordered some water too. So far we had not seen any prices, but hey we were on holiday! We knew the room rate was €49.50 (double room), so we trusted that the restaurant would be reasonably priced. I had a tuna salad to start, which was enormous and beautifully fresh. My wife had the delicious soup. Our mains were local fish and steak. Both came with fries. Desert were a homemade rice dish and something similar to cheesecake. It was all prepared and cooked really well and very tasty. We finished with coffees. We didn't get the bill until we checked out the following morning after a great nights sleep. But for all the above (pre dinner drinks, bottle of wine, three courses plus coffee for two people) the total was €37.50. Not each - for the two of us! Exceptional value!

Lovely stay...
We stayed at Posada Calera on the first night of a 2 week touring holiday. A warm and welcome greeting after a long day. The room was lovely and comfortable. The evening meal was basic but all fresh produced and cooked to perfection. All in all value for money and would definitely return. Thank you for a great start to our holiday!
