Warm and comfortable pilgrim welcome

As part of my Camino de Santiago walk, I stayed one night at Casa Victoria. It has both a pilgrim albergue (closed November till end of March) and a hotel. I stayed in the hotel in a magnificant big Spanish wooden bed. The heating (also in the shower) was gorgeous for the time of year. The hospitalero’s are extremely kind, welcome you with tea and cake, there is a kitchen and across there is Bar Jacobeo, where you can have tapas and wine. The owner was so kind to get up before 7 am to allow me an early breakfast. I walked away in the twilight of a cloudless sunrise at about zero Celcius degrees and it was one of the most memorable walks of my Camino. Well recommended.

To avoid

Very old house, rustic room, dark, there was a huge spider in the bathroom, rather cold welcome... but it was the only option in the village so we didn’t have too much choice... I think the Hostel is a better option.

a quirky kind of place

If you’re on the Camino and too tired to make it to Santo Domingo, you might consider spending the night in Ciruela (which is basically a few buildings by a crossroads). And then you might stay at Casa Rural Victoria, which is what we did.
It’s an OK kind of place, offering a bed, toilet and shower. Our room had low a low ceiling, and it was comfortable enough.
It’s a quirky kind of place, and was OK for a night. And it’s located next to a bar, which had a limited menu.

Camino 2019

This is another casa rural in a small village along the Camino Francés route. Nice lodging choice. Older hotel but it does provide private lodging choices. Small kitchen, small outside deck. Our room was small and cozy. Large beams were low and we had to watch our heads. Pilgrims dinner is served at the Albergue managed by same family. Owner graciously gave me a ride to Santo Domingo to catch a bus. He spoke a little English.

Accessible Luxury on the Camino

On the Camino, you enter Cirueña at the bottom, and climb and climb until you reach Casa Victoria. This is a good thing as you're in a good place to leave the following morning. Our hostess greeted us by giving us bottles of water. Everything was clean and comfortable. My favorite thing was the beautiful quiet terrace. (Right outside of the room holding the refrigerator that was stocked with all sorts of drinks, including wine, all for taking at a very reasonable price!) Dinner was a combined feast with the Albergue Victoria, where the food was plentiful and delicious, and the conversation was stimulating and , well, the usual wonderful Camino experience. Breakfast was delicious as well. Highly recommended!
