We have stayed at Villa Gadea for 25 nights over several trips this spring and summer. We have a house in Altea that is under renovation, and we've chosen this hotel for its excellent service and facilities while visiting during that time. Most of our stays have been very pleasant, but this last one was not.
It is high season, and it felt like the staff was undermanned. There was mostly a long wait at reception, and the reception staff helped us with a restaurant reservation but booked the wrong date. The restaurant, only half full, was at first unwilling to take a drop-in of four — saying they were fully booked. After a while we got a table, and the restaurant never even filled up to half that evening.
But the worst part was the room cleaning. For the first four nights we stayed in the newly renovated rooms, and it was a perfect stay. On our last night we had to move to one of the older (but still good) rooms. When we arrived, we found a lot of long hair on the bathroom floor — I mean a lot — and neither the sink nor the toilet had been properly cleaned after the previous guests. There was even a swimsuit still hanging on the balcony chair. It seems the staff was overloaded due to high season, but that's not acceptable for a 5-star hotel. We had two rooms for the family, and even the second room was not up to the cleaning standards we expect and hav experienced before at the same hotel.
We still recommend the hotel and hope this was just bad luck — a one-time experience.

Really nice hotel
Little bit far away from bars/restaurants approx 2 miles but taxis readily available.
We only ate breakfast once, nothing special and I can’t comment on any other restaurants as we didn’t eat at them.
Overall though, lovely rooms, clean, pools fantastic and all of the hotel is well maintained with great staff.

Perfect hotel and holiday
We very much enjoyed our stay at SH Villa Gadea. We had two rooms both had fabulous sea views. We ate in the hotel 4 days out of the 8. Our children loved the buffet dinner. The other times we ate at a beautiful restaurant just outside the hotel by the beach or we went into the Old Town. There are usually some taxis outside the hotel but if there aren't any the hotel will call one for you. It is a short drive to the Old Town and it cost about €10.
The breakfast and lunch buffets had plenty of choice and even though the hotel was full didn't feel overrun. We also had lunch at La Palapa restaurant a few times and it was very good. The price of food and drink at the hotel was reasonable in our opinion.
The pool area is lovely. There were always beds available even though the hotel was full. One thing we loved about the hotel was how spotlessy clean all areas were.

Factory without personal touch
Arrived at beautiful 5*hotel. Upon check in supposed employee that we could bring the suitcases to our room ourselves... We booked superior room with sea view but ended up in a rundown (spacious) room with a view of another wing of hotel. Then back to the lobby and it should be said: we got a very nice and spacious renovated room with nice views. However, even in this new room, the shower water was flowing into the bathroom instead of draining down the drain. Going to report, they went to see it... ... jacouzzi on terrast wasn't much. Only the ants apparently had a lot of fun with it. The garden and pools are beautiful definitely ok. Lots of empty chairs with towels despite the policy that no sunbeds may be reserved. Breakfast buffet was very generous in choice.
At check out was not even asked the question if everything had gone as desired.
In short, if you would like to stay in a large and rather impersonal hotel: definitely do. If you want something better for your money and you expect a 5stettzn experience, then there must be better alternatives.

Zero commercial sensitivity.
More than 40 customers watching the World Cup Final at the Oasis Bar. Only drinks and nuts. We have requested that they offer something to eat. They have an open buffet. The management's response has been negative. They have lost the opportunity to serve customers and to generate more revenue. That is the summary of a stay.
