Very good location for what I needed, close to family but also the beach. Bonus points for having a Bonillas next door :)

A cardboard 4-star hotel. False promises, obsolete and neglected.

I thought that the terrible experience I had years ago at a hotel in Burgos could not be topped, but this hotel has managed it.
On the only window, we see a notice on the first day telling us not to open it. We ask at the front desk and they tell us that "it must be broken." I explain to them that we are going to be here for a week and it is not acceptable to go 7 days without being able to ventilate. They tell us that they are full and cannot change our room, and that if we cannot stand it, we'll see if they can change us later...
We return on the second day from the beach and when putting our beach towels on the bathroom towel warmer, I check that it does not work. On top of all this, our own towels, since although I wrote to the hotel beforehand asking if they had a beach towel rental service (in my experience, any 4-star hotel in a beach location has one), they didn't bother to answer me, so I chose to bring them from home. I ask at the front desk and the person who assists me tells me that they only have it working in winter, because otherwise we would die of heat. I reply that that is what the little dial on the towel rack is for, to turn it off when it is not being used, and that it is unacceptable that they do not work, since the room window cannot be opened either to ventilate and remove humidity. They reply that it cannot be turned on just for me (something I did not request) because it is a general installation. Of course, there is no chance of changing to a room with an operable window.
Anyway, since I am on vacation, I decide to go with plan B and go up to the secret room so advertised by the hotel. It is dirty (there are cleaning supplies, they must have been cleaning up a party from the night before), but it has a terrace with spectacular views, so I decide that after returning from lunch I will go up for a while to read and get some air. To my surprise, when I go up at 5 in the afternoon, it is closed. I go down to ask at the front desk and they indicate that it is not open to the public, that it is only for events. Then why on earth do they advertise it on their website and on the hotel premises themselves? It is incredible. Furthermore, on the 2 occasions I went up, the gym was also locked tight despite the hours indicated in the elevator, but since I didn't ask about that because I wasn't going to use it, I cannot guarantee that it wasn't operational either, although I mention it in case any future guest is interested, so they can verify it by asking before booking (maybe they will have better luck than me and they will even answer them).
Since not everything can be bad, the truth is that the room is large (although a bit dark), the bed is king-size, the bedding is good, and the pillows are acceptable. The bathroom shows the normal wear and tear of a damp room without ventilation.
The shower, advertised as a "rain effect," is more of a "drizzle effect" due to the low water pressure and the mediocre quality of the showerhead.
Breakfast is fairly average, but sufficient for me. I should note that the juices are not natural, and the list of allergens they contain is not provided either. It is served in a space that only operates during breakfast hours.
It does not have a bar or a restaurant. There are coffee machines (2.30) and soda machines (3.50 for a Coke) and some snacks. I find it expensive compared to the prices on the terraces of cafes in the area, where, in addition to them bringing it to your table, the tableware is glass or ceramic and not a paper cup, but anyway, we came to play...
The upholstery on the armchairs and sofas in the reception area is in urgent need of cleaning, so I only sit there once.
One of the days, the elevator closes just as I am exiting, hitting my wrist hard (I still have a 3-centimeter diameter bruise). The next day, the door hits another guest who is exiting the elevator in front of me on the shoulder. We verified that the elevator does not have, at least visibly, a safety sensor to prevent such accidents. Nor do the opening and closing times seem to be adapted to what is indicated for elevators in public places; I suppose it is because since there are only two for the entire hotel, the wait times would be endless and they have reduced them. It is incomprehensible that management would risk more serious accidents than the one I suffered and the one I witnessed.
The interior soundproofing is good: you cannot hear noise from other rooms except for the very occasional crying of a child staying there, which is perfectly tolerable. But the exterior noise is another matter: both the garbage trucks and the delivery trucks for the supermarket across the street ruin our nights. And that is despite the fact that, as I will never tire of repeating, the window is shut tight whether I like it or not.
It did not seem accessible to me either. To get to reception from the street, you have to climb steps, and there is no elevator system for people with mobility issues or those carrying heavy loads. They indicate that there is an accessible side entrance, but it is always closed. It is not a problem for me, but I mention it in case it is useful to someone who is thinking of going.
Also, the air conditioning did not work very well the last 2 days, which makes it uncomfortable to stay in the room.
I could go on, but I will leave it here. In short, a disappointment. Coruña is a city that I love and that I was really looking forward to returning to (once again it does not disappoint me), the hotel's location is very good, but the conditions of the room and supposedly common areas discourage me from returning to this hotel or recommending it.

Staff was extremely helpful and had patience with our limited knowledge of Spanish. Most spoke English very well. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great - fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries and more. Only complaint was there was a lot of street noise filtering into our room, but it was a busy night in La Coruna due to a home soccer game , so there wouldn’t have been much the hotel staff could have done about the noise. Overall, it was a great stay.
