We would like to come back.

We were lucky enough to get an upgrade to an Orchid Chalet. It is perfectly equipped for self-catering.
Everything was more than satisfactory. Location, peace and quiet, cleanliness, not to mention the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff. Margie took care of everything to do with accommodation and resolved any problems that arose as quickly as possible.
We received beach towels and umbrellas immediately upon request.
On the way to our half-board, we passed Monsieur Marston's house every day, who always asked in the most friendly way how we were.
I find the reviews that complain about the food completely incomprehensible.
The breakfast is good and plentiful.
The evening meal is of high quality and extremely tasty. Once a week, instead of a 3-course meal, you have to make do with a choice between pizza and burgers. These are also prepared to a high standard and you certainly don't have to starve.

Nice and comfortable

We stayed here for 2 nights. The ladies at the reception were the kindest. I requested for vegetarian breakfast, which they were not prepared for, however managed to serve salad only for me. Room was nice and clean, bit small though. It is hardly a minutes walk from cat Cocos.

Don’t bother…

My wife and I had dinner at Chez Marston. We chose a table that happened to have four chairs because it was slightly more open with a better breeze. After waiting 10 minutes for a menu, the server sauntered over to our table and asked us to move to another table with only two chairs “in case we get busy.” I looked at the server, then did a quick scan of the restaurant and counted two other occupied tables, each with of two customer and 22 open tables…I kid you not. Baffled, I looked back at the server and my face registered a look of total disbelief ….Huh?!
We have been in La Digue for a week at this point, and rode our bikes past this very restaurant no less than a dozen times, and NEVER seen more than 3 tables occupied. Most of the time it was completely empty. After the pathetic customer service we received, and after eating our meal, it was painfully clear why this place fails to attract customers. We each order a pasta dish that lacked any real flavor, and both dishes were served with spaghetti noodles (despite mine being a carbonara). Here’s the thing: It’s really not that hard to do a decent carbonara or a beef bolognese. It’s really not! If you can’t do that, don’t serve it. Service was slow, uninspired and unfriendly to say the least, yet they are sure to automatically add 10% gratuity to the bill. Note to the wait staff at Chez Marston: Tips are earned, not a right.
Lastly, we had coffee here a few days earlier with similar pitiful service and were told when we asked for the Wi-Fi password “the Wi-Fi is broken.” Hmmm, that’s odd we thought, but ok. At dinner tonight when we asked if we could have the Wi-Fi password (a fairly reasonable and common question for patrons dining at your restaurant), our server replied after some hesitation, ”it’s not working…I don’t know it.” Wait…What? Is it not working or do you not know the password? She stumbled over her response and settled on her answer of “I don’t know the password. The reception has it.” Ok, fine. I walked up to reception (this restaurant also has accommodations in back), but there was nobody to be found at reception to ask for the Wi-Fi password, and no help from the wait staff who saw me standing at the reception desk for 5 minutes trying to find someone to give me the Wi-Fi password. The pitiful customer service, the mediocre (at best) food, makes Chez Marston just a flat out embarrassment. Save your time and money, avoid the frustration and don’t bother with this place. Ugh!

Nice and little Hotel

I can recommend this little place. The rooms (Bungalows) are nice and welcomed. The stuff at the reception and the restaurant are very kind. The breakfast is very tasty. Location is very central at the main road and near the ferry harbour.
