Magical Kigali.
My room was superb — spacious, beautifully presented and extremely comfortable — and the hotel facilities were of a very high standard throughout. The service, however, was what really made the stay memorable.
The concierge team were exceptional. They made getting around Kigali effortless, arranging transport, offering advice and ensuring I was always well looked after. As a solo traveller, that level of attentive and thoughtful service was particularly appreciated and gave me complete confidence exploring the city.
And Kigali itself completely stole my heart. If you are travelling on to the Volcanoes NP and the gorillas, don’t be tempted to treat Kigali as somewhere to simply pass through. Stay a little longer and give the city some of your time.
There is something very special about Kigali. It has an energy, warmth and kindness that is difficult to put into words, but you feel it very quickly. Visit the museums, take a guided tour, explore downtown on foot, stop for coffee, eat in a local restaurant and spend time simply watching the city go by. All of these experiences were wonderful, and together they gave me a much deeper sense of the place.
Kigali is not just a gateway to Rwanda’s better-known attractions. It is part of the experience in its own right. It is thoughtful, vibrant, welcoming and full of moments that stay with you long after you leave.
Make use of the concierge team’s local knowledge and get out and see it properly. And one final thought for fellow travellers: tip generously where you can. The service and hospitality are exceptional, and tips can make a meaningful difference to the people who look after you.
The hotel manages to combine the facilities of a large international property with genuinely warm, personal service. I felt incredibly well cared for throughout my stay and would return without hesitation.
