What a desappointment !

What a desappointment! Poorly signposted hotel, upon arrival you have to climb a string of stairs before arriving at a closed door. Then you have to call and someone will come and open the door after half an hour. I booked a so-called luxury room, it has neither toilet nor shower. The TV is broken, the mattresses are very soft and worn, the bedside lamps don't work. It's noisy !

Think twice and scroll through the reviews to reveal the full picture.

We booked to stay for 4 nights via booking.com but upon arrival we felt unsafe within the premises. We talked to the owner but our concernes were dismissed as problematic. We requested to cancel our reservation and ended up staying elsewhere and loosing our money.
What made us feel unsafe is that the main door to the hostel is open and the reception unattended. Anyone could enter the premises, use the facilities and access the common spaces.
There was someone with no booking staying in the reception area for a few hours. There was also a person sleeping on the second floor, at the only sofa amd entry path to the shared bathrooms.
Upon arrival, we also asked if we could secure our bags whilst waiting for the actual room to be cleaned and we were told to leave them on the floor. And he reassured us they would be safe there. We then went out of the hostel to review the situation with my friend in private, and after 20min when we returned, the owner had left the hostel premises, with the main door unlocked and our bags left on the entrance floor. He told us that this is a safe area, and pointed out that this is Faro and not Morocco.
We asked the owner to find out who makes sure the main door is closed at night and he told us it is the responsibility of the guests.
The private room looked spacious but it was the first door on the landing so it felt very exposed knowing there was open access to the hostel.
We would not recommend this place especially to other women.

Doesn't keep his promises/lies to clients

I was planning to arrive in the middle of the night and after booking, I received a message saying that arrivals after 2300 will be charged extra. since it was a no-refundable booking I took the phone provided and found the owner, mr Joao. after I've explained the whole issue he told me to write an email to waive the late arrival fee. they never answered that email until a few hours before my arrival saying the fee will not be waived. so the owner does not keep his promises. That apart I was giving up top bed with a ladder 10cm from the wall so no space to climb. Toilets have no seats. Try the other hostel instead, avoid this place

Nice - but cold

Very good location, good price, nice hostel and a very kind and nice host. Everything is very good except it is awfully cold! I really can not recommend this in the winter. They need to hesten up this place for the wellbeing of guests and staff.
