Comfortable stay at nice, newly refurbished hotel!

The location is close to the ski lifts (5 min driving to the car park, near ski lift T2), the room was big enough to accomodate a couple, also the room was spotless and well-maintained, equipped with a mini fridge.
The bed, pillows, and seating areas were comfortable.
The Wi-Fi was fast, with excellent connection. The large-screen TV in our room featured an additional option to connect your phone or tablet via Chromecast, so we had access to a wide variety of programs online, allowing us to enjoy our preferred content. That is a massive plus, I would say, for people spending most of the evening in their room (not so many outdoor attractions in Trysil, after nightfall, unfortunately).
The breakfast was a buffet style, with something for every taste. It was neatly arranged, and everything was kept clean.
It was a great stay and the staff were very friendly. We intend to return at this hotel in the near future.
The shower cubicle felt a bit too small, which made it somewhat uncomfortable and claustrophobic. It would have been great if more attention had been given to its size during the hotel's recent renovation.

No further considering the price

The hotel was nice, but now it comes...
It was cold in the room, I as a pillow nerd must say that you got a pillow and it was really bad, the microwave in the room did not work, some lights were broken, breakfast was really cheap. I wouldn't have cared if it wasn't so expensive.

No bar or restaurant (except breakfast)

We arrived just before New Year for a week skiing holiday. Despite advertising a bar, dining options and ski/boot room, none of these are available, except they did serve breakfast (which was reasonable) in a large dining room, that may have been a restaurant at some point in the past ?
We stated only 1 night, as staying over the NY Holidays (and -15 outside) we required the services originally advertised.
We booked a balcony room (219) this was actually a shared balcony with 2 other rooms, a tad embarrassing! The shower room was tiny as was the bedroom, not enough space for our luggage and no coat hooks to dry our jackets. The bed was comfy, nice Rituals toiletries.
Sadly, more like a B&B than a hotel.

Convenient, comfortable and cozy

We stayed from Friday until Sunday during the busy Winter holiday season. Arrival and check in was after 4pm. However we turned up at 12pm and received a warm welcome and was able to check in straight away.
The room 306 is on the 3rd floor with view to the mountains. It’s the end of the corridor so quiet. It seemed newly refurbished with new furniture and wooden floors. Everything was spotless. The bathroom had toiletries and a hairdryer. We had room service, with beds made and toiletries etc replaced.
The breakfast had a a decent selection, European standard. All we wanted - but missing sweet pastries, pancakes or the Norwegian waffle.
The hotel has a retro 80’s maybe 90’s feel about it, with a few updates here and there. But it’s the staff that makes the place. It has all the comforts needed and value for money taken into account, this is a hotel we will recommend to friends and family - as well as staying again.
+ Really comfortable beds.
+ Convenient location.
+ Welcoming, friendly and helpful staff.
- Hallway could need some decent hoovering.
- The mattress lacked bed linen. Only the mattress topper had bedsheets. Perhaps due to new beds? Also, only one pillow. Perhaps worth asking the receptionist to get an additional sent up.
- Only one electrical socket, for the tv and a lamp. Another one under the bed. So not convenient when charging the phones etc. Also, only one bedside lamp.

Great location, terrible staff.

Location is great, just 5 mins drive to the ski lifts or 5 mins walk to the ski bus and to town. Also, pet friendly. However the staff was terrible TV didn't work and no remote control on arrival. 1st time we asked about it the receptionist came up and couldnt figure it out and ultimately lied and said it was the entire building and would be fixed the next day. The next day, still not fixed and a different receptionist said he would come fix and never did. Breakfast had expired yogurt and coffee watered down. Receptionist also lied, telling us that the ski bus was not running yet on December 27th (I was skeptical and called SkiStar and it was indeed working since December 8). If you don't know, just say so and don't give false information to someone! Overall, a place that could have been great being in a perfect location within minutes of the slopes and town but I found the staff completely unhelpful and dishonest.

Very good location
