A must stay in Orkanger

Stunning and historic hotel in Orkanger. Excellent service from the staff. Very spacious rooms. Great location. A must stay if ever in Orkanger. Super breakfast!

Great place with good service

Thank you for a pleasant hotel experience, and lovely short trip food at the Minister. A special thanks to the night's waiters who welcomed us and our friends from the campsite with open arms, delicious food and good drinks.

This hotel is outdated and in need of a full update/renovation. The bedroom was very old fashioned and small. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Although some coffee was available in the reception area, no teabags and the hot water was not hot!! Breakfast was limited. This hotel was just about ok for an overnight but wouldn't stay any longer. Would definiately NOT book again. Far to pricey for the standards on offer.

Great historical hotel

Great stay, and friendly owners. I would say it is a local gem- and not part of any large chain. The food and breakfast is excellent, will be back for sure.

Great stay at a local gem

Great hotel in Orkanger, visited just before christmas which was idyllic. The place is in an "old mansion" style with originally kept parts of the wooden house. It is truly a local feeling. The breakfast bufet was also excellet with local produce. The bread was clearly homemade, homemade jams and even local cheese. The selection was not huge like som of the chains, but I would say the quality was much better (which is the point, right?). The room itself was a little worn out, but it was clean and tidy and not filthy in any way.
Coffee and tea is served in the reception area, and there are several places to relax.
There is one thing I find weird, which is a suggestion to the owners: given that colonialism and the wipe out of exotic animals in Africa has recieved such negative media publicity the last decades I find it weird (and outermost sad) to decorate a bar with photos of last century animal hunting and their skins on the wall. There are basically no large preditors left in Africa for this exact reason. I think this gives the guests a mixed impression of those owning such a beautiful mansion, which is truly well kept in som many other ways.
