A Norwegian Coastal Experience

Knutholmen in Kalvåg is a gem on the Norwegian coast – a place where you feel instantly welcome and immersed in the local village atmosphere.
The sea‑house style rooms and harbour setting give it a unique character, but the real standout is the restaurant: superb local seafood, beautifully prepared, and served by a team who clearly care about what they do. The combination of fresh fish, shellfish and coastal views makes every meal feel special.
Kalvåg itself is charming and easy to explore on foot, with everything centred around the waterfront and the hotel. It’s the ideal base to slow down, enjoy the scenery and still have good amenities close by.
If you stay here, absolutely make sure you organise the half‑day trip by boat for fishing and catching crab – it’s a fantastic experience that really showcases the coast and was a highlight of our visit.
Finally, a big thank you to the owner and team for the warm conversations and genuine hospitality during our stay – we left already planning our return.

Nice setting at the bay - a unique hotel with rooms spread around the village

We liked the unique setting and enjoyed the restaurant - and it’s the only one in the vicinity. The downside is the fish factory next door which is pretty noisy during the day and not nice to look at. Yet, at night it’s all peaceful and quiet.
Our 3 room appartment was spacious and water facing. We loved it!
The RIP tour and the hike in the island were superb! Highly recommend them.

Did not meet expectations

Disappointed with food and service (long wait times, poor board follow-up) at the restaurant. The fish was good mtp quality and baking time, but little taste. The accessories were also little taste and boring. All right, but not restaurant quality, especially mtp the stiff price. Could also be a larger portion. A friend got dry beef, his sauce was ok, but also here the whole portion was small and accessories somewhat boring.
The dessert, however, was very good, and the surroundings lovely.

The value for money was far below par

The value for money was far below par. The portions were very meagre and disproportionate to the high prices that are charged. In addition, the staff made an unfriendly, disinterested and arrogant impression. The decor is well-kept, but a neat presentation alone does not justify exceptionally high prices for an undistinctive meal. All in all a disappointing experience that did not live up to expectations.

Great place

Blay well sign in the reception. Short way to the building where me got room. The room was good and had good standard. Soft bed and lots of pillows. All right to park.
