Good night among the fjords

Clean, organized hostel. I stayed in a single attic room with a shared bathroom. Very clean bathrooms. Never had to wait in line. I paid 133 euros. Price of a single 3-star room in Italy. Full. Quiet. 15 minutes on foot from Flam. Walking is feasible. I, with a large backpack, took the paid service offered. The downside is that there is no breakfast, so remember to bring your own things. The kitchen is well-equipped and clean for cooking. Or you have to walk 15 minutes, and in the morning, not everyone enjoys that. I recommend that the facility organize a shuttle service at reduced prices, at least once for each stay.

Better to choose something else if possible.

We were forced by the total lack of available accommodation in the area and in the end we chose to stay here. It is a hostel, we had different expectations, and it is not even in the center, we are 12-15 min walk from Flåm.
What is really difficult to accept is the price-quality ratio: over €430 for just one night for a room simply composed of two connecting rooms, one with three beds and the other with two. Nothing else. There are 2 shared bathrooms on the floor and the kitchen is shared on the ground floor. At check-out, you even have to personally bring the sheets and towels downstairs.
The welcome is practically non-existent: absurd reception hours —> closed until 3 PM?? The various communications are riddled with warnings and threats of penalties. The message you receive before arrival is emblematic: “Do not call, you will receive the information when the time comes.” A way of doing things that really manages to make you feel more like a problem than a guest.
Once you arrive, you at least hope for a characteristic or well-maintained property. Instead, everything seems rather slapdash: clean little house but sloping floors, bathrooms often flooded (the first one behind the door in particular), noise everywhere, and narrow, uncomfortable stairs.
Disappointing stay from every point of view. The price requested is absolutely disproportionate to what is offered. If you have the chance, definitely consider another solution.

Very disappointing experience

Very disappointing experience.
Only a few hours before our arrival, our original booking for a 2-bedroom apartment was changed to a 1-bedroom apartment with limited accessibility. We were simply offered a 10% discount, which was completely inadequate given the seriousness of the situation.
We were told that the original apartment was not safe and not in proper condition. If that was already known, we should have been informed much earlier and given the option to cancel and book suitable accommodation for our needs.
I was travelling with my parents, so having two bedrooms was essential, not optional. To make matters worse, the reception was closed all day, so there was no proper support when we arrived. My father even fell when entering the apartment, as the conditions were not appropriate or safe for him.
Overall, this was a very poorly handled situation and far below acceptable standards.

Only go here if you can’t find anywhere else

This is for the hostel, not the apartments. The hostel building is located an extra 5-7min walk from the reception (red building) along a gravel path.
I do not recommend this place unless (like me) you need a bed for the night and can’t find anywhere else within your budget. This place advertises shared bathrooms for hostel dorm rooms but not really - see below for details.
Pros - comfortable bed and blanket, beautiful surroundings, quick 5min walk to Brekkefossen hike trailhead, renovated interiors and small kitchen.
Cons - dorm rooms on the top floor are up 2 very steep flight of stairs with the last one being very unsafe; no bathrooms for the top floor dorms and you have to climb down this unsafe flight of stairs to use those on the lower floors each time; with 2 4-6bed dorms and 8 rooms, there are only 3 bathrooms shared so you always wait; no cleaning of bathrooms so you hope the others using them are cleaning up after themselves (they don’t); too many rules including having to strip your bed and put linen and towels outside the house when you leave.
The lack of sufficient shared bathrooms between what was 20+ people was terrible, and the unsafe flight of stairs to the top floor dorms that had 2 steps that are not even wide enough for a small person’s feet make this a ‘do not recommend’ for me.

Shared room with little vampires

Bad experience unfortunately in room 20 of building 8. Renovated and functional house in a beautiful environment, but the room was infested with bedbugs. We realized this after the second night, with strong reactions and itching on the body, and could not sleep the third night (hunting bugs clearly visible in the wood and on the mattress). We should have known because the sheets provided were stained, leaving no doubt that the owners should have noticed this invasion before we arrived. The following days were ruined by the disinfection protocol to be put in place (freezing, washing, isolation of bags and things we travelled with). We still hope we haven't brought any.
