Very friendly and helpful staff

Fantastic location. Small but perfectly fine room with lovely ensuite shower room. Very friendly and helpful staff always with a smile nothing too much bother. Place to leave luggage on departure. Clean and presentable. Would definitely stay again.

GREAT Choice for visiting Amsterdam

Charming hotel right on the Singel canal. Great location, walkable to anywhere in central Amsterdam as well as convenient to all public transportation and Amsterdam Centraal Station. We chose a room facing the canal with a peaceful neighborhood feel. The view alone is definitely worth a few extra dollars.
The adequate room was very comfortable, fine for a place to rest after a busy day sightseeing. Very quiet at night, no AC, but thankfully it was cool in the evenings. Our windows did not open but there is good ventilation and a room fan was provided, so temperature was perfect even in mid-August. Our room was impeccably cleaned each day.
Breakfast is good, (including complimentary coffee/tea anytime of day) nothing extraordinary, but convenient as it begins at 7AM for an early start to your day. Most breakfast places around town, we found, don't open until 9 or 10AM.
We'd definitely stay here again on our next visit to Amsterdam.

Really good for a short break

The hotel was a really great find! I've been to Dam a few times and this is probably the only hotel I'd return to. It's in a really good location, close to the station and close to bars, good coffee shops and restaurants. The staff were lovely and accommodating. I'd recommend staying here.

Great little hotel!

Full of character and located very conveniently near the station, with a short walk into the city centre. Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was really good, with everything immaculate. The room wasn’t large but very well kept. Would definitely recommend.

Pricey Hotel in Unbeatable Location

I think the main advantage of the hotel is its unbeatable location on the Singel within easy walking distance of the Central Station. Not only is the area central, it's also very quiet and some way away from the madding crowds, which guarantees quiet nights.
On the other hand, the hotel itself struck me as rather average and quite expensive (even more so with the 12.5% tourist tax on top). What I got for my money was a compact double, dark and stuffy. The window looked out onto the wall of the building next door a few meters away. It couldn't be tilted and I didn't want to leave it open because of a ledge outside. The bathroom was ridiculously narrow and a larger person would have had difficulty using it.
Upon my arrival I was unpleasantly surprised having to step over several bags of dirty laundry piling up at the entrance. I don't know whose brilliant idea that was but neither the housekeeping staff nor the young lady at reception seemed to be bothered by that.
On the whole, the staff were friendly and I found the cupboard for keeping luggage in handy. The hotel did serve its purpose for one night but that's about it.
