This is a perfect place for nature lovers, history enthusiasts, and anyone looking for peace and authenticity
At the end of November 2025, my family and I visited the Tigmmert Oasis - an old caravan stop on the way to the Sahara. It stretches across a 10-kilometer plateau surrounded by the Atlas Mountains. The oasis is known for its traditional mud-brick architecture, especially the old kasbahs that reflect the historical way of life in the region. Tigmmert is not just a natural oasis, it’s a cultural treasure.
Unfortunately, because of the ongoing drought, the oasis itself wasn’t as green as we had imagined. But luckily, we found our own little paradise at a hotel called “Maison Nomades.” Everything there was blooming and fragrant, and a proud peacock wandered around the grounds like he owned the place.
As a foreigner, I really wanted to experience staying in a traditional Sahrawi dwelling but in a way that was still comfortable. At Maison Nomades, I found exactly what I was looking for. There was even a huge, authentic Saharan kheima (tent) on the property! We spent several wonderful evenings inside the kheima, enjoying delicious food and brewing Saharan tea. In the mornings, we watched the sunrise from the rooftop, listening to birds and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere.
The food was varied and fantastic. We were treated to camel meat tagine, harira soup, Saharan porridge, charcoal-grilled dishes, and other traditional specialties.
This is a perfect place for nature lovers, history enthusiasts, and anyone looking for peace and authenticity away from the usual tourist routes.
Next time, we plan to invite musicians from the village of Fask and sing and dance all night until sunrise - that’s our dream!

Located in the heart of the Tighmert Oasis, Maison Nomades is a traditional old family home transformed into a guest house since 2009. It is located in a beautiful garden with trees and flowers, perfectly maintained and decorated with traditional objects. Berber tents, a lounge and several places in the garden allow you to drink tea, exchange convivially, book or just chill. The incredible rooftop terrace with stunning views of the oasis offers moving sunsets and stargazing.
A true haven of peace, I was seduced by the calm and serenity of the place, as well as the warm and always caring atmosphere that Brahim and his whole team maintain with sincerity and kindness.
The family kitchen is tasty, the rooms in the spirit of the place, with beldi ceilings, have a bathroom and toilet.
Many places are to be discovered in the oasis and within a radius accessible over one or two days. Experienced local guides can help you discover the region.
This is my second stay at Maison Nomades, I intend to return regularly and make discover this magical place to my friends!!

Very nice authentic establishment warm welcome excellent value for money
This nugget is located in the heart of the Tighmert palm grove. Brahim and his very kind team were at the small care, authentic welcome with a big heart. beautiful location accommodation garden Excellent cuisine from breakfast to dinner. Beautiful peacock sheep and goats for a future educational farm. Brahim is also a beekeeper. During the visit of the inexpensive palm grove that the establishment offers see canals Saharawi museum cooperative botanical garden beekeeping. I will come back and recommend 200%.

To travel to this kind of place that is the bigining of sahara , you do not expect 5 stars hotels, it is a MAISON NOMADE , means basic need you have like a toilet, basic room made by clay or else, simple bed , tasty organic food. I was there 4 times and i visited ALL OASIS places and maison nomades is the best i find as a tourist from the first country in healthcare, education and high level hygiene, i will visit many times more, if u expect friendly workers , helpful owner, quiet atmosphere then this the place, but if you travel to sahara and u expect impossible needs then simpley return back to your country, a good traveler who take is as it is, feel safe , eat well , rest good, accept the goodies offered. I like Maison nomades and Brahim the owner is the most helpful person i have meet.

It was a most authentic stay ever, very good food, we were made to feel at home, superb Berber tent under which I fell asleep looking at the stars .
