Hotels near the dolce vita of Gueliz

Stayed with Booking.Location and kingsize bed.Hassan 'top one' in very kind, professional and multilingual hotel, with him the hotel deserves an extra star!!!
The restaurant staff doesn’t understand French or English well but they are kind and the decor as I remembered it a decade ago is a bit decadent.

Pathetic!!!!

Very far from a 3-star hotel. A huge disappointment.
To start, the welcome is rather cold and, upon our arrival, we were asked to pay a tourist tax that was not clearly announced.
Upon entering our room, my son went to take a shower and came face to face with a huge cockroach in the stall. He was scared out of his wits.
The bathroom is in a deplorable state: completely moldy silicone seals, poorly fixed plumbing with visible gaps between the faucets and the tiles, and ants crawling everywhere on the tiles.
The air conditioning is extremely noisy. And when it’s not the one in the room, it’s the outdoor units running day and night, making sleep very difficult. The view from the room is also very disappointing.
Breakfast is, without exaggeration, one of the worst we have experienced. I ordered a simple orange juice... I am still waiting for it. The choice is limited, the quality mediocre, and the overall cleanliness of the establishment really leaves much to be desired.
The electrical equipment seems outdated and gives the impression of not being properly maintained. As for the windows, they open with difficulty and the guardrails inspire very little confidence. With two young children, it was particularly concerning and dangerous.
The only positive point remains the rooftop pool... and even that. It is very small and we even found a large hairball floating in the water.
In summary, I absolutely do not recommend this hotel. In my opinion, it does not even deserve one star. There is a real lack of maintenance, cleanliness, and safety. This is an experience we certainly will not repeat.

Not the cleanest, not the friendliest

Overall, our stay at this hotel was okay. The beds were comfortable and the facilities were fine. Our room had a fridge and a hairdryer which both came in very useful. The shower was good. The location was also excellent, within walking distance to many landmarks and it was very easy to get a taxi to and from the hotel. The pool was clean and pleasant, despite being unheated. It was also very conveniently located next to a number of different small shops, a supermarket, restaurants, a very friendly currency exchange shop and an excellent hair salon. We did however, have a number of issues, the main being cleanliness of the room.
When we arrived it was clear that the room hadn’t been cleaned properly. The cleaner was sat on the bed on her phone when we walked through the door. The bathroom smelled of urine and there were stains and marks on the floor, shower, toilet and sink. The room generally smelled unclean and the rugs on the floor were quite honestly filthy. We had to slide them under the bed so as to not step foot on them. Both the balcony and bathroom door were broken and the room didn’t have any kind of heat source, despite the low temperature.
We specifically asked for twin beds but were presented with a double, which we informed reception staff of immediately. They sent someone to separate the beds but we were then left with just one double duvet and the temperature was only around 10°C. We ended up having to ask 3 times for another duvet cover, my friend having to sleep the first night with just a bed sheet because the lady at reception simply stated there was nothing she could do. Reception, cleaning and café staff seemed generally very unwilling to help and we were often met with attitude and hostility. I would like to note however, that the door staff were absolutely lovely and always incredibly friendly and hospitable. We loved them!
Breakfast had a good selection of different fresh and authentic foods, though many times items would run out and it would take a long time for staff to replenish them, despite asking multiple times. The coffee was really good, as well as the mint tea. Each day there was something slightly different which made a nice change.
Unfortunately, I can’t say that I would stay here again after being spoken to very rudely by multiple members of staff. Overall, our stay was good value but the uncleanliness and attitude of staff would not lead us to book another stay here.

Urgent complaint – Serious incident at the front desk on July 28, 2026 at 11:05 PM

Dear Sir or Madam, hotel manager,
I am writing to you with an urgent complaint regarding a serious incident that occurred at the Hotel Racine on the evening of July 28, 2026 at 11:05 PM.
I am currently staying at your establishment for the night of July 28 to 29, 2026, under the name Soufiane Chelaghmi, in room 408, located on the fourth floor, in the immediate vicinity of the elevator.
Since we checked in, the elevator has been emitting a continuous audible alarm, making any rest and sleep impossible. We therefore went to the front desk to ask, in a calm and legitimate manner, for a room change or any other solution that would allow us to spend the night in normal conditions.
The person at the front desk responded to us in a provocative, disrespectful, and unprofessional manner, telling us that he was the manager. He asked us to collect our belongings, leave the hotel, and contact Booking to obtain a potential refund.
The situation then deteriorated significantly. The receptionist made vulgar and threatening remarks. He notably grabbed the credit card payment terminal and threatened to throw it at my face. This behavior is extremely serious, unacceptable, and totally incompatible with the safety and respect obligations that a hotel establishment is required to uphold toward its guests.
The events took place today, July 28, 2026, around 11:05 PM, at the front desk. I expressly ask you to keep and consult without delay the video surveillance camera recordings covering this period, which will allow for the exact sequence of events to be verified. I also ask you to take all necessary measures so that these recordings are neither deleted nor overwritten.
I ask the management of the Hôtel Racine:
1. to immediately take the necessary arrangements to ensure our safety;
2. to offer us a quiet room that complies with our reservation;
3. to open an internal investigation regarding the behavior of the receptionist present at the time of the events;
4. to preserve and consult the surveillance camera recordings;
5. to inform me in writing of the measures taken following this incident;
6. to consider a refund for the night as well as an appropriate commercial gesture, given the impossibility of sleeping and the gravity of the events.
I ask you to handle this complaint with the utmost urgency. In the absence of a response or a satisfactory solution, I will forward all the elements to Booking, to the competent authorities, as well as to the organizations concerned with the protection of customers and consumers.

Cleanliness standard is low

The staff are friendly, close guards. But I was very upset with the cleanliness standard. We had 603 rooms. Dirty linen, stained towels, hair on the sink, sand marks in the shower... no kettle in the room. Very nasty being there. We had a room for two persons, the bed was spread out for two, thank you, but the blanket in the closet is the same size - for a double Euro bed. They arrived very late, tired and unable to walk to prove anything. They ended up sleeping on their sheets, not undressing. The sockets are behind the bedside tables for some reason, you have to move the bedside table to use it. Forks and spoons are frankly poorly washed at breakfast. Food quality is normal, no poisoning, enough. What else is good... the water pressure was normal. There's a French balcony. The hairdryer is working.

Very good location
