A five-star property waiting for five-star service
It's not that people aren't doing their jobs. They are. It's just that there aren't enough people to provide the personal service that a property like this demands.
Sometimes the bell desk was unmanned, as was the host station at breakfast. Service by the pool took ages; I wasn't the only guest who gave up and ordered at the bar instead. Calls to housekeeping and the bell desk rang and rang with no answer, though the hotel's WhatsApp was pretty responsive. Animal poop – bird? iguana? armadillo? – piled up on the paths between the rooms. And when we went to check out, there was only one person at the counter. (Why was check-in at the counter, anyway, instead of in a more personalized setting? At the very least, you'd expect somewhere to sit and enjoy your welcome drink at a place like this.)
I asked one member of staff why there didn't seem to be enough people working. They said that in the off season, the hotel reduced the number of people on duty. That's not unusual. But in this case, it suggests that the hotel is also understaffed during the high season.
These may seem like small details, but they are what you pay for at a Four Seasons hotel. They're the difference between four and five stars, just as in this review. And margins are high in the luxury hotel business, so I'm guessing this property could afford to pay for a few more shifts.
P.S. One member of staff who deserves special mention is Chef José Salas. What a wonderful host, with such a zeal and love for his profession!
P.P.S. Early morning thunderstorms can be hard to sleep through, so bring earplugs if you go!

Exceptional Service for Birthday Surprises
Alfredo thoughtfully helped arrange a beautiful birthday amenity and made sure every detail felt special. His warmth, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality are exactly what you hope to experience at a Four Seasons property.
It’s often the people behind the experience who make a stay truly memorable, and Alfredo did just that for us. Thank you for helping me create such a wonderful birthday surprise for my bride. We truly appreciated your kindness and exceptional service!

The juice was worth the squeeze…
Pools were great. Food was delicious and fresh. They had a kids activity center that had lots of activities for kids of all ages. We took advantage of babysitting services onsite and Juanita took amazing care of our little one while we enjoyed dinner.
We went during a not so busy week and really enjoyed not being at a super crowded resort. They didn’t have a Four Seasons Punta Mita branded coconut for a photo I wanted to take, but that was probably poor planning on my part (they just needed a little more time) and likely because it was a slower week.
Dos Catrinas was a place we frequented for breakfast. Yadira had my juice order down after a day. :)
It was a perfect vacation. Splurge if you’re able - it’s worth it.

Felt like a Marriott or Hilton (at best)
Brand and obviously a fake filled
Perfumed watered down version. Last year we stayed at Four Seasons in LA which is also old but service was incredible and food was good. This literally made Me never want to stay at a Four Seasons again. We thought it was just us so we started asking around and everyone reported the same feedback-awful customer service, bad attitudes, average food, and that you’re way better off at the One and Only if you want a true 5 star experience in Punta Mita. We now call it 2 Seasons and I don’t think I’ll ever stay at another Four Seasons again. Oh wait wait I forgot about this-KIDS CLUB. We walk in and there are maybe only 3 kids in there yet the staff looked at us as though we are crazy for wanting to drop off the kids without a reservation. I have never heard of needing a reservation at a kids club within a 5 star resort. Oh goodness another thing-breakfast buffet-low quality and they kept running out of food.
Wouldn’t be surprised if this place gets bought out and renamed Hilton or Marriott in a few years.
