Beautiful little hotel, short walk to everything

Loved this 6 room hotel which was located a few short blocks from the main square. Flavia made us feel at home with her special breakfasts. The rooms were spacious and romantic with high ceilings and mosquito nets. There were hammocks inside and outside each room. Loved the pool and coconut trees.was really lovely to live amongst the houses of the residents of holbox.

AVOID at all costs!

I would like to say it’s sad how people take advantage of safety net such as Booking.com provides. We booked this place for 7 nights and upon arrival on a second night we had an enormous storm: no water, no electricity and flooded streets with Typhoid possibility. Flavia, who seemed so sweet and caring at first was impossible to reach all night, when the trouble occurred, and in the morning advised us to leave the island, since the situation was dire. She promised we would get refund. We left and went to Cancun. Booking.com when asked to refund us 5 nights called to Flavia to confirm about the incident. This lady lied and said that only me and my husband left after three nights and my mom and my sibling stayed longer. Based on her story we could not get back our refund. I have to say I would not come back to this island. It used to be a paradise and now it’s a sad garbage place with mediocre and expensive food, and often flooding. Locals are prone to infections because of the sewage mixing with sea water. Please spare yourselves a trouble and stay away from this island and especially from this hotel. Some rooms don’t even have a proper roofing - it’s made out of palm trees so during the storm debris was falling everywhere. Another issue is noise - it’s very loud on that street - truck repair shop is right across the street, dogs howling and barking all night. Also, very strong sewage smell in the bathrooms. Overall a very disappointing stay. AVOID at all costs !! It’s a scam and it will cost you a fortune to have a bad experience

Gem property on Isla Holbox

I loved my stay at Casa Blanca! The property is very special... small, intimate, secluded, offering low-key luxury with a totally laid-back vibe which instantly disarms even the biggest type A’s. The rooms are beautifully decorated in what might best be described as boho chic style and feel like something out of a magazine. There is a small tropical garden and a swimming pool I jumped in first thing every morning and relaxed in for a bit every evening after coming “home” from the beach or exploring the small island.⁣
⁣
Casa Blanca is a 5-minute walk from the beach, which I actually enjoyed. Prior to my trip, I read about noise complaints at some small hotels directly on the beach, but it was very quiet by Casa Blanca. It sits in a small residential area surrounded by houses occupied by locals and not tourists, which actually gave me a glimpse into the real life on the island I might not have gotten if I stayed at one of the hotels right on the beach (I appreciated the privilege of seeing the back stage of Holbox). At the same time, the property it is only minutes away from restaurants, bars, shops, etc, which are easily reachable by walking.
⁣
Casa Blanca comes with a fun and spunky manager Gerardo and a charming cook Flavia, who makes breakfast every morning you can enjoy by the pool (ask her to make you crepes or chilaquiles).

For the best and most memorable room, book Astrolabe… it’s a duplex on the top floor, with a fantastic private deck, view of the ocean (from a sexy ladder in the middle of the room), super cool double rain shower… and the rest… well, the rest you should see by yourself.
I highly recommend staying here if you decide to visit Isla Holbox!
