Gem of a hotel for a family on a budget

Family with 2 teenagers and had rooms 401/402 (1 directly above the other with private outdoor steps between ) HB for 9 nights. We loved our stay. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable and bathrooms functional. The pool area & gardens were well kept and all the staff are fabulous. We found the restaurant clean and welcoming. Breakfast has the same 'continental' offerings each day and you can choose to add cooked options also. Dinner was always delicious - a set 3 course of soup, main (various local curry dishes with rice & salad) & dessert. While we would recommend the restaurant there are many other options close by if you only stay B&B.
Flic en Flac is a bustling area so be prepared for some noise - there is a local dinner dance show on a Friday that was loud until midnight but honestly in our room with aircon running it did not keep us awake. The location is amazing, just steps across to the beautiful beach, many food vendors for lunch, small supermarkets/souvenir shops an easy walk and reception were great at helping us organise taxis for a couple of days out. Overall, we would not hesitate to stay here again.

Finger weg!

The rooms are not clean, including mouse or rat droppings under bed and closet. Half board is a joke! Breakfast does not contain anything to eat, as it is not followed up. Croissants were rock hard, fruit dried, cheese and cold cuts no longer available. The coffee tasted moldy. There was no accommodation of reception after complaint, no offer of staff to give us breakfast. Tablecloths were tasty, including ants running across the tables. Pool dirty and unusable and is not properly cleaned even on request.

Worst hotel experience ever

We booked a 5-night holiday for 3 adults and 2 children at Manisa Hotel, Mauritius through MakeMyTrip with two rooms.
Unfortunately, our overall experience was quite disappointing, mainly bad room conditions, housekeeping, and food quality. This was especially frustrating as we were traveling with children.
Major Issues we faced are as below.
1.Extra Bed- The extra bed provided was extremely uncomfortable — very thin with a rock-hard mattress, wothout a blanket not suitable even for a short stay or comfortable for even a kid.
2.Housekeeping & Cleanliness-
Rooms were not cleaned properly on a daily basis.
During our entire 5-day stay, bed sheets and hand towels were never changed.
Bathroom towels were changed daily but had a strong oily smell may from their spa facility.
Pool and jacuzzi were not cleaned regularly.
3.Bathroom & Room Maintenance-
The bathroom door lock/stopper was broken, so the door stayed wide open — extremely uncomfortable and unacceptable.
Bathroom lights were not working and even after complaints it was never fixed.
Toilet jet spray kerps leaking making wet and flooded bathroom floors, hot & cold water mixers, and AC remote were not working. No user friendly plug outlet were there.
For a 5-day stay, such basic issues should not exist.
4.Food & Service Experience-
Food quality were inconsistent. Out of 5 days, food was good only on 2 days, and that too during dinner only. We have to keep reminding 3 times a day for our vegetarian diet preferences.
Breakfast was very poor everyday.
Parathas were thick and undercooked. Service was painfully slow.
* Even something as basic as **hot water for tea** had to be requested multiple times and would take **20–30 minutes** to arrive.
* While waiting, during morning brrakfast **2–3 staff members would stand around without doing anything**, which was frustrating.
Staff Appreciation (The Only Bright Spot)A
few staff members truly stood out and deserve appreciation:
Hridoy, Kunal, and Chef Khan made special efforts on during our stay to prepare special vegetarian dinners for us. Their attitude, effort, and service were truly excellent, and we genuinely appreciate the care they showed.
Chef Khan – Excellent and very accommodating, especially for our vegetarian dietary requirements.
Hridoy & Kunal (Dinners Staff)– Extremely hardworking, polite, and proactive. In the evening they were often managing the dining area almost by themselves. Compare to 4 staff during breakfast service in the morning which was extremely slow and pathetic
Receptionists Varsha and Sneha– Helpful, polite, cheerful and responsive.
These individuals went above and beyond and were the main reason we managed our stay.
Overall Verdict
While a handful of staff members were excellent and genuinely caring, the hotel infrastructure, housekeeping, food quality, and service standards are far below expectations. Was not expecting 5 star service but Basic necessities and hygiene were not taken seriously even for a 3 star accommodation, which made the stay uncomfortable for my family.
Please be cautious before booking this hotel, especially if you are traveling with kids or expect basic comfort and service standards.

Manisa you did not dissapoint

It's a small friendly hotel in a great location..staff in hotel couldn't do enough to help and look after you..the rooms need updating but it's authentic with beautiful gardens..we loved our stay...close to bars and restaurants and tour office to sort out trips round Island ..a must as Mauritius is incredible.

Totally terrible

1. You don't feel safe - on the first day, someone broke into my combination-locked suitcase. I tried to contact the manager about it for a week, leaving my number, but no one ever responded. The smart lock on the door doesn't work very clearly, and they don't warn you about it, so I slept with the door unlocked for a week.
2. It's noisy - the walls are very thin, surrounded by clubs and restaurants.
3. There's no choice at breakfast (the omelet, to be fair, is delicious), no clean dishes or napkins, and the waiters randomly bring your order to the chef.
4. The canopy over the veranda leaks, and the hot water is almost impossible to regulate; it's either cold or boiling.
5. I put a pizza box in the communal trash can; it sat there for several days and smelled until the local cats took it apart. The staff doesn't care.
The staff is completely uninterested in anything. The hotel lacks management from any non-idiot and discipline.

Very good location
