Excellent start to my life in Malta!

I moved to Malta in January 2026 and spent my first 15 days at this hostel. I couldn't have asked for a better welcome! The staff is amazing—Yami and Noemi are so friendly and helpful, and the owner is also very kind.
The place is very comfortable and the location is perfect. I was particularly impressed with the cleanliness; they clean the common areas both in the morning and at night. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a clean, cozy, and well-located place!

Safe, big, VERY cold

The place was clean but difficult to find a worker, didn’t see a receptionist once at the desk being there 4 days. There was no hot water in the shower (it was cold and rainy outside) and no heating in the building. Had to shower at a spa nearby instead. Our room got maybe one hour of some heat a night when there is a heater in the room with no remote in sight and no one to ask to help. They provide you two blankets so you’re not absolutely freezing but I was still dealing with the cold the entire time. However, felt safe and comfortable and the room had lots of space. If it’s warm outside I wouldn’t see a problem!

Dear Jessica,
Thanks for your review, and even though it's overall a positive one, I'm sorry the stay didn't fully meet your expectations. However, I'd like to address some important factors.
We are a hostel, with limited front desk hours. By limited, I don't mean, we're never there. I mean we're there for 12 hours a day, and we also have live in staff. If you did check in in the afternoon, using our self check in method, that would have been the only time staff wouldn't have been present. Other than that, our fixed hours in the mornings and evenings are followed daily, and this was not only included in the property description prior to booking, but also in your welcome email, and self check in info.
The showers. There are 5 showers, all with boilers to heat water. It's hard to believe that all 5 showers ran out of hot water, but if that was the case, this is becasue unfortunately, sometimes, people take 30 minute showers, completely disregarding the shared/communal aspect of hostels, and thinking they're in their own private airbnb. Still, whilst we get that this is inconvenient, but not exactly in our control, the boilers heat up water pretty quickly, and hence, it would have been a matter of a 15 minute wait for you to be able to take a hot shower.
The object in your room was not a heater but a de-humidifier. The main objective of a dehumidifier is to extract humidity from your room, because as such, Malta isn't 'very cold', but rather very humid, and so it may feel cold at times, even though the temperature outdoors would be 16 degrees. We did find your de-humidifier switched off, when we turned over your room for the other guests, and so we can understand your predeiament with a colder room.
A quick email, if you missed staff, would have sufficed for us to explain how the gadget worked. But maybe next time :)
Thanks nevertheless, and hope to see you again.

Lovely Experience

The new location is even better than the old one! It’s closer to the main part of the city and there is a smaller hill to walk up. Everything was perfectly clean and decorated beautifully. The bathrooms and showers were perfect and the staff was lovely.

Malta at its relaxing best

Great stay.Location very central and rooms clean and beds comfy. If you listen to Cliff Richard, have a lisp or dentures then maybe this isn't the place for you. Can't wait to return.Wonderful holiday.

DIRTY WITH BUGS

Boho more like living like a hobo???? My friends and I stayed here and we are not hard to please. I was literally freezing cold my entire 3 night stay. Want a blanket? Nah they all dirty. If you want to take a hot shower bring a wetsuit because they were ice cold. Staff was nice and there was a great community vibe but the community was accompanied by 100,000 ants. Not only are they all over every floor, wall, and room! Nothing says “authentic hostel experience” like waking up spooning an ant
This is not a party hostel but there definitely is an ant party… oh and people playing bongos til 3am in the living room. Legit sounded like a live bongo concert in my room
If you do want to party don’t even worry about being quiet when you get back because the beds make the loudest creeks if you breathe near them. Honestly concerning and puzzling how the other reviews are so good. This could be a really good boho vibey spot if there was to a bongo concert in my room with a freaky ant audience.
Also no need to set an alarm because the maintenance man will be in your room fixing paint bright an early. Overall the hostel was safe with nice people and staff but I would’ve slept better in a tent outside. And it wont let me post my review on hostel world which is really suspicious

Thanks for your feedback. We have copied & pasted our reply below, after already having replied to this on google.
We were genuinely surprised by your review; not just for its tone, but because none of this was ever mentioned during your stay. We encourage guests to speak to our staff if anything feels off, and we would have done our best to address your concerns in real time. As you said, the staff is friendly! We're here to make your stay as comfortable as possible, but we're not psychic.
To clarify a few points:
We do not have bongos at the hostel. Our live-in staff are present specifically to monitor and manage noise levels, especially at night.
All bedrooms, including the beds and linens, are under two months old, and all bathrooms are equipped with new boilers which remain on at all times. You're the only guest who’s ever suggested needing a wetsuit for a shower.
The painter you mentioned was scheduled to arrive after your checkout, but since you overstayed, we did need to send someone in briefly to do a small touch-up; not a full room repaint. And is 11 a.m. really that early in a hostel?
As for the ants; yes, we are surrounded by nature and do our best to manage them without using harsh chemicals, as many of our guests appreciate our eco-conscious approach. They’re harmless, and most guests understand they come with the territory.
Finally, regarding your question about how we have so many great reviews: it's because guests genuinely feel safe, cared for, and connected here. They enjoy the unique vibe and the warmth of our team, even if we’re a bit hippy-dippy at times. We’re not perfect, but we’re real, and most people seem to love us for it.
Wishing you the best on your travels, (PS- you can also leave not so great feedback kindly. Your review is not only not represertative of the hostel's spirit, but also a little 'mean-girl') ;)
