Cove 55 was the perfect finale to our family trip. Tucked between the slopes of Mount Santubong and the South China Sea, it feels like a private retreat — our room was spacious, spotless, and so quiet at night that all we heard was the jungle.
But it’s the people who made our stay. The team helped us arrange our trips to the Semenggoh orangutans and a wetland cruise, and thought of every detail so that traveling with three generations felt effortless. Breakfast was wonderful — Western and local Sarawakian dishes both — and dinner by the pool at sunset was the highlight of our whole Malaysia trip. We left rested and already planning to come back.
But it’s the people who made our stay. The team helped us arrange our trips to the Semenggoh orangutans and a wetland cruise, and thought of every detail so that traveling with three generations felt effortless. Breakfast was wonderful — Western and local Sarawakian dishes both — and dinner by the pool at sunset was the highlight of our whole Malaysia trip. We left rested and already planning to come back.

Excellent AC in room. Room described on here as "sea view" turns out to be "partial sea view", which is the description used on the hotel's own website.
Staff very good, especially in restaurant which has a separate vegan menu with some good options.
Some evidence that maintenance has suffered, such as a missing tile on pool and water leaking through to children's pool. Water leaking from toilet handle in room. Signs direct to a spa that no longer exists.

Wow just amazing and the food is out of this world

We booked this hotel as part of a package which included airport transfers ,breakfast dinner , cocktails and a trip to the Orangutan sanctuary. Overall this package was amazing value for money.
Airport transfers were smooth and seamless. The driver was waiting for us on arrival and car was very comfortable for the 45 minute journey.
Check-in was smooth and fast not taking long before your settling into your amazing room. We had booked the Balcony suite for our stay and was not disappointed. The room is huge, clean, bright, well decorated and has a comfortable king size bed and a large furnished sea view balcony with table and chairs and love seat big enough to lay on.
Hotel grounds are immaculate with stunning views of the sea and surrounding mountains. It’s very tranquil and peaceful hearing birds singing all day long and come night time the jungle chorus takes over with sounds of frogs and cricket's chirping. There is a large seating area close to the bar and restaurant and a short stroll to the infinity pool which is built out over the sea, there is no access to the beach as salt water crocodiles have been known to be spotted in the area ( we were hoping to see one but we weren’t lucky enough to)
The food in the restaurant is absolutely amazing in the evening. You have a good choice of local and international dishes all beautifully presented and probably best food we ate during our three week tour of Asia. At breakfast you have a choice from the ala carte menu and also a good selection for the continental buffet. Service was exceptional at breakfast and evening the waiting staff were friendly.
The included orangutan sanctuary tour is fantastic. We were lucky enough to see a mother and her baby Orangutan as they turned up just before closing but the sanctuary stays open later for such times when the orangutans turn up late. We were picked up from the hotel on the afternoon on 01/05/26 by our tour guide Foo, Foo was very friendly and full of knowledge not only about the orangutan’s and the sanctuary but Borneo as a whole sharing all his knowledge about the surroundings and therir history, if your lucky enough to get him as guide you will not be disappointed. He’s a credit to his tour company
We had an amazing stay and were made to feel welcome by all the staff who just want to make you feel like your at home

A lovely place to relax
This is a lovely place to relax in a nice location. We stayed in the Garden Villa which is an individual villa in the gardens grounds and perfect. The pool is in a great location overlooking the sea and was incredibly quiet when we were there. We ate in the hotel and even with a limited menu we enjoyed our meals. The hotel is definitely starting to look a bit tired and with a lick of paint could be a special place to stay

A lovely boutique hotel, set in the mangroves near Santubong outside of Kuching.
We booked 2 weeks in a spacious mangrove villa. We wanted one base from where we could take day trips & boat tours to the various national parks surrounding Kuching & photograph the varied wildlife. Much was efficiently arranged by the hotel staff & we succeeded to view/photograph almost all the species we wanted to see. A plentiful buffet & a la carte breakfast choices are included. It's a nice air conditioned restaurant, with friendly helpful staff, offering a varied a la carte menu for lunch & dinner, plus cocktails, wine, beer etc. We prefer to take aperos & dinner outside on the terrace which is nice, however, the mozzies/midges are merciless, so plenty of repellent is needed & the hotel does bring some to the outside tables in the evening. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Cove 55 and highly recommend it for those wishing to stay in comfort outside the city.
