Beautiful hotel with lovely rooms, full of character. We had a very nice stay here. Only downsides were that the breakfast portions were very small….unnecessarily so…and the (main) restaurant waitress looked miserable, however the rest of the staff were lovely and the hotel is very nice.

Most guests have to pay to go to another hotel to sit by the pool as only room for around 6 at peponi pool

Authentic and welcoming

Amu House is a classic Lamu House beautifully restored in the heart of the old town. The owner, Mary, is a wonderful hostess and cultual ambassador. She married a man from Lamu, raised her children here and is deeply embedded in efforts to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the island. Our room was large and airy and well appointed. In addition to the bedroom, there was a private lounge area decorated in the typical style. Amu House is extremely well priced and exceeded expectations.
