Quite a nice inn.

I came to see the juhyo in February.
I took the 12:20 bus from Yamagata Station to Zao Onsen (there was a special service due to the heavy passenger traffic) and arrived at Zao Onsen Bus Terminal around 1:00.
Check-in starts at 3 o'clock, so you can stroll around the spa town and arrive at the inn on foot (if you call from the terminal, they will pick you up)
The employees' service is also good because they feel at home.
The room was Japanese style.
First, I went to the hot springs.
I think the tub and washroom are small. Is there a capacity of four people?
Strongly acidic and sour water
It is said to be good for beautiful skin and skin.
Two late-morning meals included
Dinner isn't bad, with beef steak and sashimi.
Breakfast is buffet and it is good to have a local feeling.
It is a bit far to walk to the ropeway and ski resort bus terminal, so you need to use a pick-up service.

My solo travel on Tohoku region

I went to this hotel by motorbike during summer vacation.
For dinner, I chose Yamagata beef sukiyaki. The amount of food was small, but it was delicious. The creme brulee dessert was also excellent.
Also, I had bought local sake, local beer, and snacks at the liquor store in advance, so the amount of food was just right.
The hot spring at this inn was amazing. It was small enough for four people, and the facilities were old, but I liked the quality of the spring water and the atmosphere (called wabi-sabi in Japan).
The staff were also kind, and even though a typhoon was approaching, which is rare for the Tohoku region on my trip day, they put the hotel's motorbike cover on my motorbike. Thanks to that, I was able to leave comfortably with my motorbike dry after checking out.

"She must be a bad boss"

My friends and I booked this hotel on the strength of the good reviews given here. However, regrettably, our experience at this hotel ended on a very bad note. On the day when we checked out from this hotel, my friends told the staff at the reception thst they would go down to tokyo for a short trip before returning to Zao, and asked whether it would be alright for them to keep some of their luggages at the hotel just for a couple of days. The reception staff said Okay. Then fast foward a few days, when my friends went to collect their luggages upon returning to Zao from their trip, this Japanese old lady, who we understand to be the owner of the hotel, suddenly insisted that my friends must PAY to stay at the hotel for one more night before she would give them back the luggages. My friends were shocked and tried to reason with her but to no avail. It was not until my friends threatened to call the police that this Japanese lady finally and reluctantly backed down.
In fact, during our stay at the hotel, this same Jap lady also, without giving any proper explanation, told us that we could not use the dryer at the hotel.
In the midst of that aforementioned saga, two of the hotel staff (who are much friendlier than the Jap lady i.e. their boss) approched my friends to try to defuse the situation. At one point during their conversation, my friends said to the staff " she [i.e. the Jap lady] must be a bad boss]. That two staff grinned and did not disagree.
