They deserve getting number one in Kanazawa

This was just a perfect stay The owners wife Mie was charming and a lovey young lady.She made restaurant reservation for us. Called the taxi. The breakfast was great. Even the unusual Japanese breakfast was very good. The room large lots of space. Bathroom very good. Everything you need for a restful stay at good price. Very clean. Great toilet??
Everything was in walking distance the gardens the fish market and Geisha area.
I just can’t fault it. Would recommend it to anyone wanting the perfect Japanese Ryokan.

Must stay in Kanazawa!

After reading great reviews about this ryokan, I knew that it was where we wanted to stay when visiting Kanazawa. We booked a 1 nights stay and it did not disappoint! we booked a room with a private bathroom which was spotlessly clean and felt very traditional. We had breakfast included and you could choose either traditional Japanese or continental breakfast. The location was fantastic for exploring Kanazawa. If you are looking for something more traditional, I would highly recommend here! Would stay again!

Beautiful traditional Ryokan with the most lovely hosts running it! Had a great little hot spring for relaxing and the Japanese breakfast was amazing and such a good way to start the day

5 star, yet cheap!

Sumiyoshiya is phenomenal. The proprietors are special -- so welcoming and attentive and catering to our every need. We had just their breakfast, and they made reservations at their favorite restaurants for us for dinner. The ofuro's were the best of our entire trip -- spacious and always perfectly heated. The rooms were huge and comfortable. And the price tag was mind-bogglingly cheap! It's also right next to the market, and the great restaurants Mukashi and Kourin Sushi.

Lovely stay

It’s not fancy, but has everything you could need in a hotel, is in a great location, and is run by lovely people. For the price it’s an excellent choice. If you haven’t experienced a more traditional ryokan this would be a good way to try one.
