Superb food and great hospitality

We stayed here as a group of six cycling across Sardinia. After a long day unable to find anywhere open to serve food , we were tired and a touch hangry when we reached Sa Muredda. We were immediately made to feel at home. The rooms were clean and well equipped but the high point was the fantastic dinner our host prepared. Delicate slices of pork superbly cooked, home made ravioli, seadas- all in all a great meal. Breakfast was ample too- toasted sandwiches a nice touch to make sure we were fully stoked for the day’s riding.
Highly recommended.

Great traditional B&B

Pasqualino runs a wonderful B&B located in the small village of Villanovaforru. The B&B is traditional in style and is well kept and clean. Villanovaforru is well placed to explore the surrounding countryside and is close to the Unesco site of Barrumini and the wildlife park of Giara Di Gesturi. Villanovaforru also has its own attractions including the Archeological museum and the Genna Maria Nuraghe.
Pasqualino is also an accomplished cook, serving fantastic traditional Sardinian fare with his own special twist.

A small-town Sardinian treat

Ever since we decided to spend part of our multicountry trip in Sardinia, we wanted to go up into the central part of the island, into the mountains, near storied Barbagia. Don’t know if it’s actually Barbagia, but we did find the village of Villanovaforru and Casa Tipica “Sa Muredda” thanks to TripAdvisor. Our TomTom GPS got us close but still had to ask directions for the final few turns — up a steep alley and down a drive, ending next to a school. Sa Muredda is behind a locked gate. The owner, Pasquale, will come out to open it up. We read that he will make a great local meal but when we got there found out that you need to schedule it ahead of time. In any case, he’s a gracious host and Sa Muredda is really his house. He makes you feel at home. By the way, Sa Muredda is a bench where folks spend time relaxing and talking. It’s right there at the front of his house. The best part of our stay curiously was Pasquale’s place, too — the oddly named “Da Lucky & Chopper” Ristorante-Pizzeria behind Sa Muredda, facing the street behind. We got there in time to find Cesare firing up his pizza oven for the evening orders. We asked what his best pizza was, and he said the calzone! Well, we ordered it and it was terrific and HUGE! Plus, we had our first bottle of delicious Cannonau wine (Costera 2014), a Sardinian treat. We stayed around long after finishing the calzone, watching as couples and families came in on a Sunday night to eat and drink, filling the place with happy laughter and talk as Cesare worked the oven and the one waitress scurried around. If you want a small-town Sardinian experience, this would be hard to beat!

Perfectly pleasant and well located B&B

Very conveniently located close to the village centre. All very clean and pleasant. We only had breakfast (evening meals are available and, apparently, very good) which was plentiful and very good quality.

Very good location
