I have seen a lot of Roman ruins in different countries, but I do have to say that Pompeii is one of the most spectacular. First of all, the sheer size of the city is just amazing, and then when you see all of the details of daily life that were preserved by the eruption you will be amazed again. Be prepared to walk your legs off, and bring some water with you because it can get pretty hot.
Beautifully preserved remains of part of the roman city. Beautiful mosaics, and marble tops, and stunning wall paintings. A free guide book available which is very informative. We got entry for free as we attended on the first sunday of the month.
The city of Pompeii with Mount Vesuvius looming over the ruins it created in 79 AD. The ruins of Pompeii are all that’s left of this magnificent city, equipped with theaters, bath houses, brothels, running water even take away food restaurants. It is incredible to see the sophisticated society that once boomed here. Local tour guides can be booked online through a simple google search. Some tours even combine the best activities of Naples. I did a hike up amount Vesuvius in the morning, paired with the ruins of Pompeii in the afternoon, with an included Pizza lunch between of course!
a short daily trip form Capri Pompeii is one of the most significant proofs of Roman civilization and, like an open book, provides outstanding information on the art, customs, trades and everyday life of the past. the city is left as it was the day of the eruption in 79BC. it is a testament to the roman civilization and allows us to see in detail how the Romans really lived, well preserved homes, public baths, roads, hotels and public places.
