Optimal location, quiet and cleanliness
The ideal of what we are looking for on a city trip. Value for money - very good price.
First contacts: by email and then by WhatsApp. Regular and clear monitoring for 6 months.
Location: in one of the beautiful neighborhoods of Naples on the heights of the city.
Access: by car, Fuga Square (taxi) or car parks that the hotel can communicate. 3 funiculars arrive there (see schedule in photos). The Central funicular is just around the corner from the building, the Chiaia a few dozen meters below and Morghen 350m higher. Or the metro line 1 (exit Vanvitelli) whose underground access is right outside the hotel door. This passage is clean to the ticket offices; do not rely on street view photos that might suggest otherwise.
Entrance: at the small Fuga Square, pass the bronze obelisk and follow the right wall towards the staircase that goes up. It is a wooden door on the right. If it is closed, ring and someone will answer. Climb a few steps and take the elevator to the 5th. The hotel is located on the 5th and 6th floors (access to the 6th floor is via another elevator in the hotel itself). On the 5th floor, exit the elevator and turn left: a glass door slides and you are at the reception. The other floors are occupied by the inhabitants.
Welcome: they are all not only very kind but bend over backwards to satisfy you and best meet your requests. Whether to call you a taxi, advise you on a route hotel -> port, etc... they do it with pleasure. You never get the feeling of disturbing. They speak English perfectly (my wife and I have a solid foundation in Italian and prefer it to English) and do not get annoyed if mutual understanding does not happen immediately (I have observed it with other clients). Besides, we have translators on our phones...
Decor: several statue sculptures evoking the history of Naples. Creations by an artist from the historic center. See pictures.
Access rooms: either on the 5th or 6th floor via an elevator in the corridor or by the back staircase.
Room: very clean (201 concerning us). Hot water comes quickly, the air conditioning works very well, easy to use and does not make noise. Comfortable bed. Minibar restocked every day at very democratic prices. Fridge working very well. The hair dryer works very well too.
Wifi: works very well.
Cleanliness: from the entrance downstairs to the hotel, the hotel itself, lift included: impeccable!
I want to make one very important point: sometimes the slight “sewage smell” you might smell is the sulfur smells of the volcano or solfatara. I smelled the same 24 years ago. Naples is in a very active seismic zone and the smell of sulphur can be more present on certain days and this throughout the city and surroundings. You will have it in any establishment and even on the street and it does not smell like a rotten egg at all, let’s not exaggerate anything either.
Lunch: there is everything (see pictures) and the coffees of the machine are very good.
Getting around:
Quick access everywhere. Take half an hour from the doorstep to the Garibaldi station ticket counters by metro. Half an hour to the counter of the port Beverello via the Central funicular.
We chose the UnicoCampania ticket 7 days. Available at automatic machines and employees will help you choose the right option. Valid for funiculars, buses, subways. All stations are very clean as well as the inside of trains that are not vandalized.
Thank you to Mr Manuele Bosis, the manager, and all his team for the total success of our stay.
