Charming Corte San Leonardo

The rooms are located in the center of the stones but not far from the parking lot. This allows an easy arrival to the rooms but without losing the charm of immersing yourself in the enchanting and surreal atmosphere of Matera. Very convenient location. We stayed 2 nights.
Breathtaking view.
Clean and tidy room, comfortable double bed, a little less the sofa bed - we were 4- 2 adults and 2 children.
Perfect breakfast, there is everything, a gastronomic journey already from breakfast- salty, sweet.
Family welcome, friendly and caring host. It offers careful and precise directions.
Thank you for the welcome

Matera in “Pole Position”

It is one thing to visit a place as simple tourists, another (and this is the case) to immerse yourself completely in the atmosphere of Matera, admiring the Sassi from the beautiful terrace, when the sun sets and the first lights of the houses come on. The rooms are cozy and furnished in a simple and sophisticated way at the same time; for sure it is one of those places, La Corte San Leonardo, that you can recommend to the people you love. They'll thank you

Here you experience Matera in its authenticity

Corte San Leonardo is a typical house of the Sassi of Matera. We chose to sleep in the Cave because we wanted to live the experience of the Materans of the past.
I can assure you it was really exciting. We found ourselves catapulted into history.
Everything here is consistent.
The room is cared for in every detail, also the presence of windows allows the exchange of air, a detail not insignificant here in Matera.
Breakfast is zero km, fresh and cooked express. Finally the staff is very nice and helpful.
We will definitely return for more days.

I wouldn’t stay there for free

We don’t usually do reviews but sometimes things get so out of whavk, we feel compelled to. We paid E190 to stay at Corte San Leonardo based on their online reviews of 9.6 and their claim of a “wonderful view”.
#1: That view has been blocked by a recent neighbour’s renovation. This is simply not true.
#2: The online rating is insane. The place is rundown and shabby. NOT shabby chic. Our room had a malfunctioning air conditioner that produced water running down the walls, sheets so old and faded, we could barely make out the pattern, decorations and furniture that were junk. The whole place needs some TLC because things are either worn out or falling apart. The saving grace were the 2 women working there for the owner. They were great but this is not enough reason to stay there. The current rating is totally misleading.

Gentile Ospite,
Cordiali saluti.
Barbara Fontanesi

A gem in the stones of Matera

Characteristic location inside a renovated private house in the rocks of Matera... well-kept and comfortable rooms, Caterina and her sister-in-law, who take care of the structure, make you feel welcomed and at home, pamper you with abundant and refined breakfasts... and they advise you on excursions... super recommended!
