One of my favourite hotels in India

I found the hotel by chance after spending a few nights in another place in Udaipur which was not only more expensive but poor value for money. So I was delighted to be welcomed to the Gorbandh and booked in by lovely polite and attentive staff in the attractive lobby. The room was very pleasant with a simple luxury, spacious and comfortable with everything I needed. An armchair, a big bed, a kettle with sachets of tea and coffee, a table and plugs for my lap top. The bathroom had all the necessary soap, etc. and I was impressed by the easy to access and free WiFi. I ended up staying two extra nights and will definitely come back. As a solo traveller I felt very safe and was left in peace. I felt that the price was very fair and excellent value for money. I didn't try the food but had great coffee brought to my room by a very polite waiter. I hope to try breakfast before I leave. I was able to explore the city and the old town either walking or by auto rickshaw so it was very practical and the bus and train stations are very close. All in all I have been extremely impressed

We advised reception that we would be arriving early morning and they said that wouldnt be a problem, but when we arrived, we had to wait till they woke up to let us in.
We were given a room that had such a strong mildew smell it was hard to adjust to.
We advised staff and they said they would move us however they forgot and by that time we couldnt be moved.
We paid a full night price for a 5 hour stay, asked if we could have a late check out, they were only willing to give us an hour. Then in the morning called to wake us up to tell us no we can only have 30 minutes.
This was the least welcoming and accomodatong hotel we have stayed at during our entire trip in India. Very disappointed.

Worst experience ever

Worst Hotel Experience Ever!
Nothing was good about this hotel — from service to stay, everything was terrible. The food was the worst I’ve ever had. We ordered Manchurian, and it was so hard we couldn’t even eat it. When we returned it, they still forced us to pay. The room was dirty, mirrors and bedsheets were not clean, and the whole place was a mess.
The WiFi didn’t work properly, and they didn’t even allow outside food even though their own food was awful. When we asked for lemon, they said it would cost ₹25 per slice — absolutely ridiculous!
To make things worse, we got stuck in the lift, and no one came to help even after pressing the alarm several times. Such poor service and management.
Would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Totally not worth the money!

Stay Away — This Hotel is a Total Disaster!

Hotel Gorbandh, Udaipur is hands down one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The service is painfully slow — slower than a turtle on vacation. We had to ask three times just to get basic things like water glasses. The food is a complete joke — the Manchurian was literally like biting into a stone. We had to return it because it was impossible to eat.
To make things worse, they don’t allow outside food, but expect you to eat their bland, tasteless food? That’s ridiculous. The Wi-Fi never worked, and we had to keep going downstairs again and again just to remind them — still, no fix.
Housekeeping clearly has no clue what they’re doing. They didn’t check if handwash or bodywash was there, didn’t replace towels after cleaning, and showed zero attention to detail. On top of that, on the last day, the lift wasn’t working, and everyone in the hotel was complaining about the same nonsense.
And the cherry on top — they actually charged ₹25 for one single slice of lemon. Who does that?!
This place has horrible management, careless staff, and zero hospitality. If you value your time, money, and sanity — do yourself a favor and don’t even think of staying here.

Please Avoid This Hotel at All Costs!

I had one of the worst stays ever at this hotel and I strongly recommend everyone to stay away. The management and staff are extremely rude, unprofessional, and have absolutely no sense of hospitality.
The service was pathetic — they would complain or act irritated at every small request, whether it was for cutlery, towels, glasses, or even a butter knife. The “Wi-Fi wasn’t working at all”, and despite complaining multiple times, “no one bothered to fix it” or even check. It felt like they simply didn’t care.
The food they served in-house was awful, and when we tried to order something from outside (because the food was literally inedible), they conveniently said “outside food is not allowed.”
They even had the audacity to charge ₹25 just for a lemon slice, which says everything about their attitude toward guests. The **lift was not working, making it extremely inconvenient to move around, especially with luggage. The room cleaning was substandard, with dirty mirrors and unkempt bedspreads even after repeated reminders.
There are plenty of better and more courteous places to stay in Udaipur. Save your time, money, and peace of mind — Do not stay here.
