A 2 star poorly managed (no management at all) property marketed as a 4-star property- avoid
There is no management to welcome, receive or make comfortable. Avoid at all costs if you value courteousness. There is a beautiful outhouse with lights that’s get used by the security and he refuses to move. The problem is lack of management so basically uncivilized staff act like mini dictators.
Rooms
The rooms have an old cottage-style wooden aesthetic, which could have been charming—but execution is poor.
• Heating is inadequate, especially for the cold climate (a complaint already highlighted in older reviews).
• Rooms do not resemble the photos shown online.
• Basic functionality is there (hot water works well), but that’s about it.
• Fireplaces exist but are non-functional due to cantonment restrictions. Surprisingly, the management has made zero effort to install electric heaters or alternatives, something very commonly done in hill properties (e.g., Ooty, Coonoor).
Overall: Barely acceptable, nothing close to a 4-star experience.
⸻
Service (or lack of it)
This was, without exaggeration, one of the worst hospitality experiences we’ve had.
We were a large family traveling with a small child and elderly members—yet no empathy, no courtesy, no basic service mindset was displayed.
• On arrival, instead of a welcome, snide remarks were made about our luggage.
• No assistance was offered; we had to insist for help carrying bags.
• Staff behavior throughout was rude, dismissive, and argumentative.
Examples:
• Asked for mineral water → lectured on drinking mountain water instead. When we insisted, bottles were handed over at reception—not delivered to rooms. When requested, we were told “you can take it yourself.”
• Asked for WiFi → told to “go check the router yourself.” Had to push repeatedly before access was provided (critical since there is zero mobile network on the property).
• Requested basic amenities like conditioner → response: “no one has ever asked for this.” Request to procure from the market was outright denied.
• Breakfast timing was communicated as 7:30 AM (important due to a baby’s needs). On arrival, we were told it’s 8:30 AM. When we pointed out the discrepancy, the response was:
“You might have hearing difficulties.”
That statement alone reflects the complete absence of hospitality standards.
⸻
Discriminatory / Partial Treatment
What made the experience worse was visible preferential treatment:
• Other guests were offered bonfires, tea service, and attention.
• We were consistently denied or dismissed for similar requests.
This inconsistency was blatant and uncomfortable.
⸻
Facilities
• Only one fire pit, which must be pre-booked a day in advance.
• No flexibility, no guest accommodation, no proactive service.
⸻
Location
The only redeeming factor.
• Beautiful, quiet, surrounded by forest and within army cantonment.
• Peaceful atmosphere, birds, rain—truly scenic.
However, the property feels more like a basic bed-and-breakfast taking advantage of a great location—not a professionally run hotel.
⸻
Final Verdict
We cut our stay short and left early due to the inhospitable environment.
This property:
• Is grossly misrepresented as a 4-star hotel
• Lacks basic service standards
• Demonstrates poor staff training and attitude
• Shows inconsistent and biased guest treatment
Recommendation: Avoid if you value hospitality, especially if traveling with family, children, or elderly
