Very Disappointing Stay – Not Recommended for Families
Very Disappointing Stay – Not Recommended for Families
I recently stayed at Sumitel JB Park, Darjeeling, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory.
1. Poor Welcome Experience
- Upon arrival, no welcome drink or basic hospitality was offered.
- The staff incorrectly informed me that my booking did not include breakfast, even though I had booked 2 rooms for 2 nights with complimentary breakfast.
- I had to spend time arguing and showing my booking details before they finally acknowledged the breakfast inclusion.
2. No Flexibility for Family or Kids' Food Requests
- The hotel was unwilling to accommodate even simple requests for children.
- I requested boiled potatoes with a little salt for my young son, which is a very basic food item, but the request was denied because it was not on their menu.
- This lack of consideration was disappointing for a family-oriented stay.
They don't have extra glasses for drinks etc you want to have in room
Food they served without cutlery and asking sir do you need spoon plates? Like seriously??
3. Unnecessary Pressure During Checkout
- One evening before my departure, the hotel staff called and insisted that I clear my restaurant bill immediately.
- My checkout was scheduled for around 10 AM the next day, yet they repeatedly pushed for payment a day in advance.
- This felt unnecessary and made the stay uncomfortable.
4. Limited Breakfast Options
- Breakfast choices were quite limited.
- If you requested any special egg preparation, you had to wait around 15–20 minutes.
- Overall, the breakfast experience was average at best.
5. Poor Location
- The hotel's location is one of its biggest drawbacks.
- The entrance is surrounded by butcher shops and a busy bus stand, which creates an unpleasant first impression.
- There is no proper parking facility.
- Because the hotel is right next to the bus stand, expect constant traffic and horn noise from around 6:00 AM until late at night.
Final Verdict
If you are travelling with family and looking for a peaceful and comfortable stay in Darjeeling, I would strongly recommend considering other options. The combination of poor service, lack of flexibility, limited breakfast choices, and noisy surroundings made this a disappointing experience.
Believe me all positive reviews they have taken by pressurising at the breakfast table. You will see all the pictures of their cafe.
